i am going to buy a new scope for my revolver. it will spend time on a ruger 45lc and om my 83 in 454. i have a burris 2x7 but it is large and i dont use the higher power much. I am looking for some imput on brand and power. the power choices i am looking at are 2x,4x and 1.5x4 the brands are leuopold, burris and tasco maybe others. i have used burris and have had good luck but i am not limited to burris.

I have been using pistol scopes for the last 35 years. You will never be disappointed with a Leupold.

question 2, has anyone mounted a burris fastfire on a revolver?

I haven't used the fastfire but back to scopes I'd definitely make either a leupold 2X or 4X the first choice and even the 2.5-8X is lighter smaller and tougher than the Burris stuff. I've also used and like the Nikon 2X and probably the best deal for the buck is the Weaver stuff, you don't hear much about it and I haven't used their variables but I've found the fix power handgun scopes to be very tough. Next on my list is the Bushnell Elite 2-6X and then Burris not because of lack of quality although in the past couple years there seemed to be a major upturn in the number of failures but because they are bigger and heavier than neccessary but if your gun fails you can always beat the critter to death with the scope.

I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

Installed a new Burris 1.5-4X on a FA 44mag. After 20 or so rounds the crosshair broke in the center.Burris repaired the break but now I hesitate to use that scope on a hunting trip.
Leupold has always been good....

On the scope question, my input is for the Leupolds. They are the only fixed scopes that I currently own - have 4 (1 2X and 3 4X's) (In fact, I prefer the Leupold in variables as well - 4 of the 2.5x8's)

The 4X will serve you well, especially considering the distance capabilities of your Casull. I like to have more power after 50 yards or so, with game or targets...With the warranties on the Leupold's, shop around for a used 4x -you can find them in the $150-200 range depending on generation (M8 vs FX-II).

I believe that Darrell H has a Fastfire mounted on his 629 or .500 - I'll let him weigh in on those optics.

Either Leupold 2x or 4x, hands down.

Leupold 4x for everything.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I think leupold is what i will look at. I still would like to hear from anyone who has used the fastfire.
