Has anyone tried reloading 44 mag using hornady's 265 gr flex tip ? It is billed as a 444 marlin bullet but it has the same diameter as any other 44 bullet and I wanted to try something in that weight. thanks

That's a great question, I was looking to do the same thing. I use Hornady's 265gr soft point and it's one of my favorites in my Blackhawk and Marlin. Key

The flex tip 265 is .10" longer from the canelure to the base of the bullet than the standard 265. Not a large amount but it will reduce capacity a tad. There may be an issue with cylinder length, I know one feller that had to pull the points out to get them to fit in his.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.
