I have been shooting without them lately. one of my new pups thought it would be fun to eat my right hand glove. i am not sure if i am going to replace them. it seems there is a change in my p.o.i if i use gloves so i may just forgo them. how many of you wear them with your big bore revolvers? By the way, if someone wants a lh cabelas revolver shooting glove in xl they can have it.

I never wore shooting gloves with any of the big bores.

Maybe a light weight jersey glove on a really cold days hunting, and then I usually slip it off to shoot.

I wear them on the hardest kickers which I don't include te X frames in but more the FA's or converted rugers in the big 475 and 500 calibers. I find they make extended range time much fore bearable and they save some knuckle skin too. If your shooting a 44 or 45 colt or one of the big Smiths with the rubber grip they are un needed but if you start shooting light hardhitting revolvers like th converted rugers I'd recommend them. I use botht he padded fingerless and un padded full finger and yes the chang poi some because it's changing the angle you hold it hat some. I found normally at 25yds I'll see anywhere from a two to three inch difference and normally higher. Bottom line they make range shooting more fun and they work for keeping your hands warm somewhat when it cools down but if your going to use them practice with and without them until your comfortable either way and you can also decide at that point if the gloves help is worth the trouble.

I shoot with gloves often, notsomuch because of recoil but we hunt with gloves here in November when it is usually below freezing. I haven't seen any "significant" change in POI with or without gloves, but haven't really done a side by side. I do use the thinnest leather I can get away with. I have a pair of Past shooting gloves, but don't shoot anything that requires them, 480 is my biggest thumper, FOR NOW

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I don't use them either,I like the feel/sensitivity of having my trigger finger caressing the trigger and I 'm afraid if I wore a glove I might touch one off before I'm ready.

I use gloves when shoot'n anything, from 22lr to 475 lingbaugh. I try to keep consistency. I use the same gloves at the range as when hunting. They are extremely thin leather shooting/tactical gloves.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Shooting gloves with open figer tip are what I use.

John Williams, I remember using regular gloves and because my finger tip was covered I experienced exactly waht you are talking about. I`ve had the gun go off prematurly. I believe the gloves were to thick to properly feel the trigger....

I use a RH golf or batting glove for bench shooting only where I know I will be shooting hard or snappy recoilers. Hunting no need

I was wondering how these very thin types of sports gloves might work, but for the recoil part, I can't wrap my head around the value. Is it more for knuckle protection, or to keep the hand on the grip in the right spot?

I have never used gloves, not even when it is cold. I take the glove off my shooting hand.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

I do sometimes, depending on what I am shooting and how long the session is.

I do but I haven't always. For me it seems to make my holds more consistant.I don't know why and stumbled across it by accident. It seems the bigger calibers move around in my hand more without gloves.

I prefer to shoot all of my guns "barehanded"

Interesting. I have an old raquetball glove I can use next time to the range. Very thin leather so I may not have to remove the finger-tip.

Take a look at the Firestorm Gloves from Blackhawk Products. They feature pads on the front of the fingers, waterproof Pittard leather; Fire resistant, and Kevlar reinforced construction. I bought two styles after seeing these at the SHOT Show a few years back. One has the wrist strap, and the other is elastic wrist (which I use 90% of the time). These gloves were developed for the U.S. Military, so the leather is thinned on the trigger finger, with skived cut lines to enable you to cut the trigger finger back if you so choose (I did not). Delivery is about 6 months because they are used in Iraq, etc.. They will definitely solve the problem of getting your hands beat up by the handgun, or scorched by the muzzle blast. Not cheap at $60 per copy last time I looked, but definitely worth the money.
