I have used primers that were bought in the 1970's and no problems at all. I have used powders that were 1980's manufacture. All were stored in a good dry area.

When you open an older can if it smells like regualr powder it's probable still good. Look at the powder and if it has a red hew and light dust (kind of like rust), or an acrid smell, then it has gone bad. Take it out and sling it over the yard to feed the grass.

I have red dot that I bought in 1983 and am using it in a 9mm ruger that my son bought with no problems and I 've about used up most of the primers that I had stocked up on in the 90's.Keep the powder dry and the primers in the box dry and you shouldn't have any problems.I live in Illinois where we have days of high humidity and I 've never had a problem with either(powder, primers).

Hee, hee, I have you all beat. I have a keg of Red Dot that is 58 years old and is still good, also primers from back then.
Stored right away from moisture, heat and air, I don't think powder will ever go bad.
