Probably a couple weeks back my local gun shop owner layed out a flyer and pointed out a 480 Super Redhawk w/9.5" barrel with a Wholesale price of I believe $495 from CDNN Investment I believe. I made some comment that I figured the ONE that they had in stock was probably long gone. Thursday I am in the gunshop and the owner gets the 480 Super Redhawk out for me. His Hang Tag has $625 on it. I did a little thinking about what I had that was tradeable and came up with an Anschutz 1502 D HB Classic Beavertail in 17M2. I figured he would probably trade for it. I was correct, and now have a second 480 Super Redhawk. The plan is to put a 30mm Ultra Dot on the 7.5, and leave the 9.5 with open sights. I sure could have lost a bet on that one. I would have never believed he would have gotten one at that price. Now I will have to get another set of Tamer Grips, and a canvas case for it. I will probably swap my Green Marble Fiber Optic front sight from the 7.5 to the new 9.5 as I plan to use the open sights with it. I could have probably lived without it, but it now has a good home and lots of love.

Congrats on the new arrival. They've been on sale for a couple of weeks now. You don't have to be a dealer to buy from CDNN, just need a dealer to ship to. I have a 9-1/2"er already, great gun, and was thinking of grabbing another from them to have cut down to an Alaskan.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I know from posts that a few of you have 9.5" Super RedHawks. What are you using for a soft case? Looks like an 18" would probably be the correct length. I would prefer Green canvas.
I found a couple Bob Allen cases in the Midway Catalog. A Black canvas one for $8, and a Green one not exactly sure what the material is for $20, and a Hunter Suede for $47.
That was everything I have found so far.

I Just Bought A new Bisley Hunter 7.5 I Put it in a Extra 14" Contender Case made by ACE Case MFG. It Has a Scope on It And Fits Perfictly With a Little Room To Spare. I am Positive a 9.5 Will Fit.

I have thought a second 480 would be cool..... but you can only shoot one gun at a time..... or so I tell myself.
I use a TC soft case when need for the 9.5" gun.

That is a nice gun. If it were me I would put an optical sight on the 9.5" gun as a treestand-blind gun while use the shorter version as a big bore back up, so to speak.

Well I shot it Sunday for the first time at a Defensive Pistol Match. I shot the POKER GAME GONE BAD Stage with it. Double Tapped 3 targets at about 4 feet in about 2 seconds. I got one round out of the Center ZERO Score Ring probably due to being used to the Power Custom trigger job on my 625 Smith & Wesson being considerably lighter. I over swung the last target and got the last round out about 1/4". I was shooting just under a max load of AA#9 under a Lee 325 Gas Check. Onlookers said the gysers of dirt blowing up off the berm were pretty impressive. I am looking forward to seeing the vidio footage to see what recoil and muzzle flash looked like late in the day.
Dirty Harry Calahan would have been proud.
This was my first time firing a 480 Super RedHawk with factory grips. The Hogue Tamers do make a difference you can feel. Factory grips are tolerable, but the Tamers are much better in my opinion.

Normally it will show up on the Big Piney Sportsman's Club MESSAGE BOARD. In the Match Scores under 8 August 2010 Defensive Pistol Match. If the film gets on the web site, and if my footage was included, it should be their. I have not been on the Clubs Web site in a couple days, so I have no idea if it got posted. http://bigpineysportsmansclub.com/I put some 400 grain Lead through it yesterday. It is shooting a little high. Recoil is a little more brisk with 400's. The Tamers should help cure that. I just need to come up with a couple more items to order with them.
