I have been working with the Texana Ranch in Hunt, TX recently and they are looking to make some changes in the focus of their hunt offerings going for more of a whitetail operation. For this reason they have heavily discounted hunts on the following:
  • blackbuck male $1250
  • blackbuck female $100each - no limit
  • exotic sheep rams (mouflon,etc.) $1250
  • simitar oryx bull or cow (both have horns) $1250

They are going to do 2-day hunts starting Friday afternoon and running through Sunday at Noon.

This is a beautiful Central Texas ranch just slightly over 2000 acres. If you want a great blackbuck, you won't find a better bargain and the same goes for the exotic sheep rams.

These hunts are being offered here first so don't hesitate if you're interested. Once the herds have been reduced by the prescribed numbers the hunts will go up in price again.

Contact Paul Simone at 830-238-4708 for more information and tell him you saw it on this site. Or you can visit http://www.texanaranchhunttx.com and fill out the form on the contact page.

Looks like beautiful country. Does the hunt price include lodging or motels close by?

There is a 3 bedroom ranch house that is $75 per night each for 2 hunters and $25 per each additional person. There are also several hotels in Kerrville which is about 20 min. away. It's about the same price as a mid-priced hotel room in town but it's much nicer to stay at the ranch in my opinion.

What does a Blackbuck taste like??---Better not answer Chicken

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

They are excellent and while it may not taste like chicken it is very good prepared in the traditional chicken fried steak recipe.

Now that we've established that blackbuck tasted good cooked like chicken; what about schimitar horn oryx?

Also very good and they are pretty big so the price per pound is a lot less. If you want an oryx you should get on this deal because the rules are going to change next year because they are endangered in the wild in their native habitat which of course has nothing to do with the thousands of them in TX but that's how environmentalism works.

I want to hunt one bad, but I'm fixing to be out of pocket for awhile and can't pull it off right now. I hate it too, cause that's an awesome price.

Why do all of these deals crop up when I don't have the time or money for it?

The hunts are guided - no limitations on guns but you should be prepared to shoot at 100 yards.

James I wish you could make it. This is some great hunting and I know you would love this place. I've been after a particular mouflon ram for now for 4 days and this morning was the first time I put eyes on him... couldn't get a shot. I'm hopeful this evening though.

No joy on the ram - I saw him again but couldn't get close enough for a shot. I was running out of daylight and had to push my stalk and got busted.

Honestly, I haven't tried them. Blackbuck, however, are fantastic.

The exotic rams are not fit to eat in my opinion. Take it from me I've tried them. Gary is right the Blackbuck is great!
