Finally got my 686 back from the smith getting it drilled and tapped for scopr mount. Here she is straight from the range not even cleaned up yet. I think it gives it more charcter LOL. I was able to keep all my shots on the 8'' Shoot-N-See target at 25 yds. Shooting free handed and standing and sitting. I figured I might as well practice the way I would be using it. Since I haven't seen any benches in the woods. I will continue to practice and slowly increase my distance every few range visits. Until I settle on what I feel is my effective shooting range. I beleive my groups will tighten up as soon as I get use to this configuration. Not to mention this was with Wally World Winchester white box ammo. I'm using the cheap stuff to get some trigger time in and will sight in with the hunting loads just prior to hunting season. Now I just got to take the plunge and get into reloading were I can afford to shoot more often. I'm also considering purchasing another UltraDot for the Ruger. It just looks lonely since I took it off. Does anyone have any advice on the regular UltraDot vs UltraDot Four vs MatchDot? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks for everyones helpful advice and opinions on this sight. I look forward to learning much more.

Tradrick, nice looking piece. Are you going to use the Buffalo Bore ammo for hunting? The nice part of using the red dot is that you can keep both eyes open when shooting.Shoot within your range limitations and you'll have backstraps on the grill!

JW, yes I plan to use the Buffalo Bore. It seems to be a pretty good choice for off the shelf.

158 gr. JHP. Rated at 1475fps. Not sure what length barrel those numbers came from. I wanted the 180gr.JHP. But they did not have any. They did have 180gr.with the cast core bullets. I might get some of those as well.

Tough to beat those 180 grain flat point hard casts for hunting

Thanks guys, now I just need to find something to carry it in. Any recommendations on holsters for a scoped revolver with the 4'' barrel length. Seems like most I see are for the longer barrel lengths. Was looking for something inexpensive like a Uncle Mike's or something.
