Thanks to everyone that helped me out with my last post. Now, as always, I have another topic I need some help on. I have purchased a new stainless ruger new model blackhawk and I hate the old plow handle and want to covert it to a bisley, OR, find a grip that changes the angle and lengthens the grip. Rubber is ugly but if that's all I can get then so be it. I just have big hands and I can't hold onto the darned thing with heavy loads. I can get the parts from Ruger but I thought someone on here might have a kit they want to sell cheap or a grip frame from an old damaged gun or some advice on longer grips. Thanks in advance all!

Well the trouble is that stainless Bisley grip frames are rarer that a honest politician. I have 2 in the white Bisley grip frames for blued guns and they are the only 2 I have seen in the last 4 years, I have only seen in person for sale. Ruger lists the parts but they seem to be on permanent back order and require a lot of fitting/gunsmithing. Ruger does not make grip frames to sell, they are over runs from production runs, if there are any over runs. Sometime you can get lucky and they will have them but when they have them they go in a couple of days.

I too love the Bisleys but if a stainless gun is your thing the easiest/probably cheapest option is to get one of the Accusport 5 1/2" guns from Gunbroker or one of the other services and sell the gun you have. Blued parts are a lot more available for conversions...

No one understands Ruger's business model, but they have stayed in the black while most of the other gun companies dance in the black and then way into the red all of the time.

Be patient and put the feelers out, who knows you might get lucky...

Try the( ruger forum . com ) You may not find a Bisley frame ,rarer than hens teeth ,but a super blackhawk frame may be available. It is longer than a blackhawk and so may help you.custom grips are also an option as they can be made to fit your hand size

Why A Bisley? Maybe you should shoot one first. I hate the things!
They beat my knuckle and are sensitive to how they are held. I will NOT own one of the things. The crap that they make recoil easy is just that---CRAP!

And I say, why not a Bisley?? I can say with certainty, that my .50 Alaskan revolver would be unshootable with a plow handle grip.

Whitworth and I shoot together and the Bisley thing always comes up.
I can tell you that Whitworth LOVES my BFR's and Rugers. He has a long row to hoe to make me believe in a Bisley!

I agree with Fowler, just buy a Bisley. I just discovered the Bisley grip frame recently, and fell in love. I had 2 guns converted over to Bisleys, and it cost me $300. a piece! Magnaport here in MI charges $125. in labor ro fit the frame, and that is deal compared to other, bigger Smiths I contacted. Stainless Bisley frames are ALWAYs on backorder, and I had to wait months to get mine from Midway.
Your far better off, just to buy a factory Ruger Bisley. If you can live with Blued, Ruger is still offering them in .44 & .45 LC. Or hw about a new Bisley Hunter? I just picked one up myself, haven't got to shoot it yet. But I will never buy another Ruger thats not a Bisley! Being able to wrap ALL YOUR FINGERS around the grip is priceless!

well, I think its too late for that. I called ruger and they have everything in stock to do the conversion. My gun is 4.5" and to get one that was the same in a bisley I would spend the same or more to have the barrel cut etc. This way it will be everything I need, grips included for 230.00. I thought that was a good deal. I do some gunsmithing myself (not revolvers until now) so I should be all right. Not to mention, John Linebaugh is giving me a hand and over the phone help if i have any questions. Great guy BTW. Anybody who wants the concersion, call Ruger in NH and ask for Don. Tell him that Sean from Casco Maine said to call and that they had all of the stuff to do the job. I managed to get the stuff when John was told they didn't have it. He must have got the janitor or something!

For some of us a Bisley grip frame beats hell out of our knuckles.Eagle grip co makes a grip with a filler behind the trigger . I made my own with a filler behind the guard and longer overall length before I found the eagles.Sure made a difference ,no more sore knuckles.Pictures of my grips on bragging board.

That is why I never recommend a grip. A fellow just has to shoot someones guns to see what feels and shoots best before diving in. Grips are 100% personal.
I don't want to shoot heavy kickers with smooth, shiny grips either. Might as well dip your hands in Crisco first!

EEEEE... crisco. Yep, the only thing I could think of worse than shooting a heavy load in a revolver with crisco slathered on my hand would be having TWO wives. UG.

This Gun, I Beleive This Style Stoped The Biting Problem,
On the Hunter Verson.
It Doesent Bite at all.
This Would be the Frame To Put on yuor Gun IMHO.
