Hey guys a GREAT BIG THANK YOU. I got to the range today. As many years that I have been shooting and not used any cast. What was I thinking.....I shot the new federal 300gr castcore in both smith's and a lever action. they all where more accurate than any jacketed bullet, really. I thought they where going to kick hard, But if I am not to crazy I think they kicked a little less. The box says they are shooting around 1150. Doesn't matter they are to accurate not to use them......Now just waiting..........

Gene, I used to shoot them in my 8&3/8 mod 29. I don't have the figures handy, but seems I was getting right at 1200fps. If I needed a factory 44 mag load that would be my 1st choice!

That's a really good load that has proven very accurate out of the revolvers I have shot them. I too wouldn't hesitate to use them on virtually any game.

For me it's the local Fred Myer! Gotta love Alaska.

Midway normally carries it.

I am not sure about the velocity. that is what it said on the box and I am shooting it out of a 7.5" 629 permormance center, 6"smith and a marlin lever. So It really is doing better than they say....
I got mine at the gun store that I work at. Any one that has guns and ammo can order it for you. I think you can get it at midway, chearper than dirt and a few more that I don't know about...
Thanks again, very accurate......and that is what counts....

I do have another question.
a 357 mag in a smith with a 8 3/8 barrel. I have not messed with them enough to hunt with. I have a chance to get one or a 6" colt. which one should I use?
What distance can you get out of them for hunting.
What ammo?
Planning to put 4x scope or red dot on.

300 grains in a 44 anywhere from 1000fps to 1300fps is largely immaterial. doesn't matter, it'll kill the same. federal, i've found, will usually not load up to claim a max load, they usually load where it's most accurate and reliable.
