Wondering if anyone has an accurate hunting load for the 480 Ruger using the Lee 325 grain WFN gas check bullets?

I tryed a reduced load using them at around 850 fps with Unique powder. This load would not shoot accurately at all.

I have both a 325 WFN gas check mould, and a Lee 400 FN. I have a supply of both cast up and ready to load. I thought I might cut down on load development if someone had a good load using the 325's already worked out.

I also have the same 325 gr. mold, 22 or 23 grains of LiL gun powder grouped well in my SRH.The other 2 loads I use are 19 gr. of 2400 & 10 gr. of unique, my hunting load is 22 gr.of Lil gun. Good luck hope this help's you out.

No experience with the 325s, but the 400 is shooting well for me (last cylinder fired went into 6" offhand at 75 yds with a red dot) with 20.0gr of Lil' Gun. Runs 1150 fps with WW primers from my 7.5" barrel.

I tried 10 different loads with that bulet and could only get reasonable groups at 25 yards but they all went to hell at longer ranges for me. I ran it from 800fpr to 1450fps and it uniformly sucked! I think the meplat is too large for the length of the bullet, it does not stabilize well.

Stick with 375gr bullets and up and the loads are a lot easier to get to shoot well...

You need to use the LFN style for ranges longer than 50 yds to get acceptable accuracy, as the short nose bullet does not stabilize well at longer ranges from most guns. In general, longer (heavier) bullets will deliver better accuracy at longer ranges. Check out the LBT website for more information. I like Accurate #9 and Montana Bullet Works 400 gr LBT bullets in my 480s.

My 400 grain Lee bullet is shooting just fine. My last trip to the range my 400/18.0 of AA#9 load grouped all 6 shots into 1.325 Inches at 50 yards off a rest. I thought this was pretty good with an UltraDot with a 4 MOA Dot.
I was using a 300 Yard Rapid Fire Replacement Center for a target with a Bright White 2.5" Target Dot to aim at. I stuck a 2.5" Orange Target Dot on cardboard, and carefully cut it out leaving a 2.5" hole in the cardboard. I used this 2.5" Round Hole as a guide to mark 2.5" Circles on White Poster Board. I then used spray on adheasive to stick the dots on the replacement centers. The End Result is a 27" X 27" target, with a 19" Black Circle with a Bright White 2.5" Aiming Point in the center. This seems to be about perfect for 50 - 100 yard sight in using an UltraDot. It should work fine for a scope also.

We just made a Midway order last night. I have one lone box of 325 grain Speer Deep Curls (all they had), and 1 box of Oregon Trail 355 grain Gas Check True Shot bullets coming. It was a toss up between the Cast Performance 375, and the Oregon Trail 355. I decided to try the 355's. I may not try either this deer season, as I have the 400's working fine.

I loaded a second load the other day using 18.5 grains of Lil Gun under the 400. I have not shot any of them so far.

I'm loading 20.0gr of Lil Gun behind the Lee 400 with WW primers. Nice Load in my 7.5" SRH & gets 1150 fps.

Sounds like a nice idea on the targets!
