I'm planning a Russian Boar hog hunt in Upper Michigan in a few weeks and was wondering which bullet would be better, the Nosler 300gr HP or hard cast 310gr? I have the Noslers but would need to purchase the hard cast bullets. Has anyone used the Noslers for hogs? I'll be using a 44 mag SRH 7.5" barrel and my son will be using a 44 mag handi-rifle. If anyone has any load data for the Noslers using 2400 or the new Allian 300 powder that would be appreciated also. I just purchased the Alliant 300 powder and haven't used it yet. Sure hope someone can help out on this.

Welcome to the forum BuddyB! You are sure to get quite a few well educated answers here, but never even having seen a wild hog I'll simply have to say that you will never have to wonder how a quality, heavy, hardcast with a nice meplat will perform...
Again, welcome & enjoy!

While I'm a big fan of heavy cast bullets your Nosler 300 gr should work fine. Most of us here will flinch a little bit when we see hollow points used on heavy animals but again you should be OK. You'll know after your first hunt, if its bad then leave us your full name & address so we can notify next of kin!! Good luck.

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I remember that trip. Bugs 300 XTP took that pig off its feet.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm kind of new to this handgun stuff. I used to shoot groundhogs in Ohio with a SBH 357mag about 40 years ago but this is the first time I'm willing to try a handgun for bigger game. I'm a long time bowhunter but I've been bitten with the handgun bug. BAD!!! Well I guess I'll try the Noslers and see what happens. Sixgun, I can still climb a tree like a squirrel if I have to LOL!
