Well this year for the most part thus far has been trying to help a neighbors kid get his first deer.We've seen several but none would stop for the kid and we wanted a still broad side shot.Saturday morning it all came together.After spooking one as we entered the stand my confidence wained a little but you never know.About 1 1/2hr later a decent deer apeared as if sacrificing himself he stopped to nibble on some browse dead center of the clear cut.The young fellow made an excellent shot with my .308 long gun and recovery was a snap.I don't think you could get the grin off his face with a jack hammer.I know this weren't a handgun hunt but hunting I am and helping the future in the process.Now that that's out of the way maybe I can slip off a little for myself before I take out some others for their firsts.

i still remember my first and my cousin who helped me get started. he's in deer hunting heaven now, but he always has a special place in my heart.

I applaud you cottonstalk; I am very big on helping new-comers and first-timers to the world of HUNTING. We need more hunters, which helps in the long run of retaining hunting rights which again helps in the long run of retaining the right to own firearms.
