I just returned from WY this past wknd and although I did not fill my buck tag, I did however, fill 3 tags with slickheads. We didn't get a pic of deer number one, but here is the antelope and deer number two.

All three were taken with a 15" Encore in 7/08. Longest shot was 147 yds while the closest was 45 yds. I had an opportunity at a whopper muley buck second to last day, and I was carrying an Encore rifle in 25/06 then. Though, due to a bad decision on my part, I never did launch a round. So, the next and final morning I was fortunate to fill that last tag with the muley doe.

Congrats on your filling the tags that you did.
We all usually learn some things when we hunt for a period of time.
What part of WY were you hunting in?

You're correct, Ernie. I learned a very valuable lesson that day that could have been completely avoided. I doubt I make the same mistake twice. We were hunting the north-central part of the state.

Kyle, I'm usually pretty busy in the months leading up to hunting season so I can dedicate my "free" time to being in the woods. Things are just beginning and I'm looking forward to it!

How's things down yer way?

oh...pretty fair i guess. had a very rough summer at work. but....deer gun season starts this next saturday. i may have some vacation days in that 16 day season, plus weekends. i'm not holding my breath on a trophy horned dude....but ya never know. i held out last couple seasons lookin for larger horns, n didn't take does. the population seems down somewhat from years past, at least in some areas. there are still plenty to make you worry about your vehicle in others though!.....weird.

Congrats on a fine hunt. I really hope to get out of the south one day and try my hand at some of that.

WTG Chris. Yep from the looks of things you are liking that 7mm-08 quite well.
