I recently provided a presentation on handgun hunting that was taken to the Namibian Professional Hunting Association. I just received word from Marina Lamprecht, the wonderful person who presented the information, that the motion has been unanimously approved. There are still some hurdles in getting this authorized by the government but this goes a long way to getting Namibia opened up to handgun hunting in the future.

Woo Hoo!

 Quote:

Dear Gary

The motion was unanimously accepted by the members of the Namibian Professional Hunting Association this afternoon. The only grief that I received was for stating that handguns were more effective the archery...
So, now that we have the mandate of the members I will prepare a proposal for the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

Thank you so much for your invaluable assistance.
Regards from our beautiful Namibia
Marina

The thanks should go to Marina she's the person there who has taken this to the governing bodies in Namibia, I simply provided her with a little information.

Oh, and I would almost travel to Africa just to shoot warthogs for a week.

Gary,

I would be a little less humble. It surprises me how many folks do not realize that politics plays a big role in these kind of decisions, both abroad and stateside. Folks don't realize the work that many of the early handgun hunting pioneers put forth to get things approved in this coutry, at the state levels. Muzzle loading, bowhunting and certainly the more traditional hunting/shooting groups have very strong voices and lobbies. Combine this with state game commissions that many times have non-shooting/non-hunting members and it is a wonder we have the opportunities that we do have these days.

Great job.

Good work, Gary. One step closer. As you point out, there's still a ways to go in Namibia.

They aren't even to the point of thinking about restrictions because it's currently illegal. There is a long way to go before it's allowed.

That's very good news that the country may open up to handgun hunters. Thanks for the update

If you "almost travel to Africa", then you will be able to "almost shoot Warthogs"

Good job, Gary. Always "keep on truckin'..."

Here I am in Hastings Nebraska on a family Thanksgiving trip but
managed to make it a business trip: I made a new landowner contact (320 acres with river bottom as in prime whitetail habitat) who is interested in leasing me deer hunting opportunities for handgun hunters in trade for some elk hunting opportunities...

Keep up the good work Gary; we all appreciate it and some can appreciate the work that goes on behind the scenes.

And thanks always for keeping up such a great website!!!

Best, Gregg

Gary, this is a great feat for hand gunners....do you have any connections in Canada? That would also be a great feat; giant blackbear, grizzly, caribou, elk, moose, giant whitetail and mulies...oh yeah, don't forget blacktail. This may be a bigger dream than Africa...

We all have to be thankful for the work that you and Marina have done Gary. It is nice to know there are people out there supporting this great sport...After all, to sum up what Craig Boddington had written once, we are all on the same team, no matter what we hunt with, bow, rifle, muzzle loader or handgun, we are all hunters and deserve support from each other... there is no point in bickering between each other about which method is better and more "ethical" than the other. They are all worthy of a spot in our outdoor lifestyle.

thanks again for your and Marina's hard work

Great job Gary, really I mean that as I have done some stuff behind the scenes myself.

A big note of grateful Thank You to you as well as Greg Richter for all that you two have done (and still are) for handgun hunting.

Keep up the good works!!!

ps: don't know about the Craig Boddinton quote as original and maybe it is but I do know that I have seen it said here also as well as in a video or two...

Great work. We all owe you and Marina a huge debt. I've spoken to a few people that have hunted Namibia (rifles) and all have raved about the experience. If they allow handgun hunts I'll be on the plane, no almost about it.
