Looking to build a 308 plunking rifle. Got parts except stock and found a alum one. Just some thing to play with.

Cant take much recoil on shoulder no more. Getting bored with ARS and got a lot of pistols coming.

one thing to consider-- if you use the 06 action you can exceed the 2.80 OAL may want to look the amount of freebore and twist--May want to shoot some big 180-200gr bullets seated way out.

Just thinkin out loud here

If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

Aint nothing wimpy about not being into pain .You do what you need, to take care of that shoulder. Who wouldn't want a sweet shooting, non recoiling .308 to play with?

I was thinking more about the 243 Win, 260 Rem--Thinking less recoil and flatter trajectory and less wind drift

I built my 6.5x284 on a long action Rem 700 action - with the Sendero contour barrel, it's a light recoiling gun with the ability to reach on out...

The cartridge can be built on either LA or SA receivers, but feeds much better from a Long Action if you like to seat them long.
