I have never reloaded any ammo and do not have any reloading equipment. I see Cabelas has the Lee 50th Anniversary Kit on sale for $79.99. Is this a good kit to start with or would I better off investing in something else?

i have a variable opinion on that. it is a good place to start because of the value, but if i were going to be into reloading for life....i'd much prefer rcbs or redding equipment. an rcbs kit will add $200 to that amount. that is considerable difference with you not even knowing if you will like reloading or stick with it.

it may do all you ever need. it is a definate good way to get started.

if i had to start from scratch at the moment, i'd search out used quipment, but that is only because i know exactly what tooling, brands etc i prefer now that i've done it for years.

Nothing wrong with the Lee kit. The only thing I changed is purchasing a RCBS powder dispenser with the scale combo. The Lee scale you get with the kit is horrible in my opinion. If you don't want to spend that kind of monet get a Dillon or RCBS scale.

That would be a great start. The only thing Lee that I have is a turret press but I have no complaints. You can find some good deals on used stuff on auction, which is how I started, but I got a lot more that $80 invested. Get the kit and then search for a used turret press, you won't go back to a single stage again. Use that kit press for decapping and other chores.

Agree on the scale, look for one with a magnetic dampener.

You'll be happy with the setup.It'll do anything the other brands can do at much less price.

Good way to start. You can always upgrade if you decide handloading is for you.
