what would be a good elk factory load?I have been looking at the 275 barnes bullet and the 260 nosler patition by winchester does anyone have experience with these? if so what were youre results?thanks in advance, I have a elk hunt in two weeks and dont have time to work up a handload for this hunt

I have no experience with elk or the 460, so my advice may not be worth dudely squat....but if I had to choose between the two rounds you've listed, I'd go with the 275 barnes; it's heavier and I witnessed what it can do to a big boar hog. Nasty results!
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I'm partial to Nosler Partitions but either should work fine.

I have no experience on Elk...But I have killed a lot of animals including a Big Boar Hog with the .275 Barnes from my .460 S&W and it blow thru both shoulders and had very good wound results.
But the Nosler Patition is a Great bullet also, my gun just shoots the Barnes better.

what load info do you have for the 460 s&w 10.5 revolver woth hornady brass ?I have the brass in hand, and the bullets on order just need the dope for the load
