I'll be sure to watch! Congrats up front! What iron was you using? Or is that a surprise?

Will try and watch it!

Hmmm...Canada, that probably means NOT a handgun.

Hmmm...you're exactly right. Guess I missed the "manitobia" part. Just assumed it was a handgun since I'm reading it on HHM....

But I'm gonna try to watch it still.

Thanks KRal. Now if I draw my Wisconsin bear tag for 2011 that will be a handgun hunt!

I'm thinking seriously about going on a black bear hunt next fall...

Just saw the show today. Were you the first or second hunter?
Congrats!

I was the first hunter. Unless you thought the second guy did a better job than that was me. I was the first one.

Kral you should do a bear hunt. Where are you thinking about going? What type of bear hunt, bait, hound, spot and stalk?

Ty, I'm think about a Maine bait hunt. Handguns are allowed there and you can buy license and tags over the counter; not to meantion, one of the largest populations of bear in the U.S.
But I'm not against a spot and stalk or hound hunt; heck I just love hunt'n, any style.

I've always wanted to hunt bear in Maine. I've searched a little on the internet. I've been trying to find a place the wife could go too. A vacation/hunt combo. My wife love lobster!

The place I've been eye-ball'n purdy hard is Foggy Mountain. He caters his hunts especially for handgun hunters; been in business a while, also.

I've talked to the owner a few times at some of the expos in Michigan. He seems like an honest guy that runs a good camp. It does look like a pretty good place to go in Maine.

If you want a really great black bear hunt look up a man named Paul Laney out of Grand Lake Stream.

http://emainehosting.com/LaneysGuideService/

Paul bought the business established by Dave Tobey after many decades of serving as a Master Guide. He has always treated me very well. I hunted with the outfit three times and have taken black bear with a handgun in each instance. The last hunt was one in which by rights I should not have gotten a bear. I blew my chance twice and I was still set up to take my bear.

You have to be careful with some guides not so with these people.

Don't feel bad about hunting over bait. The Maine woods are too thick for spot and stalk hunting.

Bigbore442001, thanks for the reference. I think I have looked at his website in the past...I'll check it out a little closer.
