Anyone shoot Ultra Dot Scopes?
I have a Ultra Dot 30 mm dot scope that has so far stood up to the recoil of my T/C Contender with a 12" 357 Maximum barrel.
I really like shooting a scope with no magnification.

They are the only red dots that I will use. I have seen too many so-called "high-end" red dots fail under heavy recoil and my Ultradot 30 just keeps going. The 30 that I have on my BFR in .500 JRH spent nearly four years atop my .475 Linebaugh and has withstood thousands of full-tilt (420s at 1,350 fps) loads before I took up residence on my .500. I highly recommend them for heavy recoiling handguns.

I have one and love it. I have never had any problems with it.

Glad you folks are on this subject. What about effective range? With the 4 mil dot, is it reasonable to expect 100 yard or so accuracy? I currently use a 2 x 7 Burris on a SRH in 44 mag, but I'm just not totally satisfied with that setup.

I regularly shoot mine out to 200 yards, but it is very accurate at 100 yards -- I spend lots of time practice at that range and have taken game with it just shy of that distance.

I have two Ultradots, one on a .480 SRH and one on a FA .475 Linebaugh: I really like this setup for revolvers. I also know that one will withstand a 20 ft. drop from a treestand and still stay zeroed. Don't ask...

I too know for a fact that they can withstand the drop and maintain zero!! LOL!

Well, now I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who has dropped their handgun out of a tree stand. I did that on my first ever handgun hunt this past season (scope remained zeroed).

My guns fall, the Ultra dot didn't remain at its zero but with a few clicks it was back for duty and stills going strong with a couple thousand Casull rounds of beating!

Does the dot have to be "centered" to hit where aiming?

The dot needs to be on the intended targeted spot.

once sighted in you can shoot your target even if you don't have the complete sight picture/center of the glass as long as you can put the dot on target.I've done this at ranges of 35 yards and less when shooting at groundhogs so I don't know how far out you might start to stray from the target because I'm assuming at some point the lack of the complete sight picture/shooting form will probably make a difference but I don't know past 35 yards.

We should start a club......or a support group! Unfortunately I belong in that club! Mine has never needed rezeroed (unless I changed guns)& has never had a hickup. The last 2 yrs it's been on my 7.5" 480 SRH (Nice gun choice Darrel. Shows your taste & wisdom ;-) ) & in the 6 yrs previous to that it was on my mod 29 (320gr@1325fps as standard load for many hundreds of rounds), & my 450 Marlin Guide Gun (420@ 1825fps atandard load). Alaskan weather, rain, snow, oops, bumps & bangs, etc & no problems. Dot does not need to be centered in the glass. As long as you can see the dot through the eye piece & the dot is on the target you are good. I'm a baliever.
