Just had to pass on my recent experience with SSK Industries. I sent a barrel to SSK last Thrusday to have a TSOB base installed. Yesyerday, Tuesday, early afternoon the barrel was delivered back to my front door. That is what I consider unbelieveable service !

They are about the fastest custom shop around. DanB and I had a similar experience with them at the beginning of the year. They are not necessarily the cheapest around, but the work is done right and it is done fast. I guess that just prove that you get what you pay for?

I think I remember seeing one custom shop offer three types of service: fast, cheap and good. They said that they were willing to give you any two in combination - you pick which two. SSK comes close to giving you all three.

I also have had good experiance with SSK. I had a rechamber job done a couple of years ago. 3 weeks and it was back in my hands. Some shops it is a 6 month turn around. Quility of work was very good.

Any time I have e-mailed JD about some thing ,He always e-mails back next buisness day. I may not like what he has to say ,but I listen to him.

I recently recommended SSK to a co-worker who needed a 500 S$W modified. I had never dealt with SSK but had heard many good things from various sources incuding this site and it's members. My friend had SSK drill/tap and install a T'SOB mount, install 4 rings and a scope. The gun looks great and the service was very good. During one phone call he spoke with JD Jones and his advice was certainly helpful. Now I'll have to come up with the dough to have SSK do a custom Encore barrel for me..... Good Shooting, TLV

Several years ago I had JD install a TSOB on one of his barrels I picked up( I actually stole it. It was a 14" SS Shilen 1n 45/70 with a SSK/muzzlebrake $90.00 out the door)Anyways one week b4 deer season here in Ohio on sunday I was making sure my handcannon was still on ,when the TSOB came loose!. I called up JD on monday he said ship it ASAP. It left the shop via UPS monday night , had it back in my hands wednesday morning FIXED(new TSOB with bigger screws)!! Now that is service!! Of course living in Ohio helps, but the bottom line was I had it in my hands for deer season.

I have dealt with SSK numerous times and I have to say that I will continue to do so for my Contender/Encore needs. As a matter of fact, I have a 35 Rem barrel that will be going to SSK for rechambering and a T'SOB mount. If JD says you will have something by a certain then you usually get it. It's nice to call SSK and to talk to a person who loves handgunning probably more than you do.

When I bought my 309JDJ replacement barrel they drilled & tapped the barrel and installed a T'SOB while I waited. It only took them 1/2 hour and I BS'ed with JD for 2 hrs.
