We've guessed at the top ten, picked our top 5. But, what if, you had to have just one?

Of my current inventory...

The .41 Blackhawk will do anything I need here in the South. Hogs, deer, or if I ever get the chance, bear. Anything else smaller. Kind of makes the .500SW into the voice of over kill, but, I do like it.

That I don't own?

It would have to be a .454 FA model 83. 6" barrel with a 2x scope. You?

My 15" Encore 338-06 for sure. If you say revolver only, it would be my S&W M500. Big for a lot of things, but like some other things very important in life...it can never be too big!! Size matters!

If'n we still get the .22 LR for Free as well as the Self Defense Cartridge / Handgun then I could probably live happily after with a 7-30 Waters.

Of course, Larry. I'd like to try a 7-30 some time. I seem to require that my cartridges all be older than me. The 500 mag is a rare exception to that thing that I have.

If I was stuck to only one gun it would have to be a Redhawk 44mag. IMO this is a reliable revolver and 44 cal in a very good all around load you can use in many hunting situations.

Actually I am thinking I am going to make my 7-30 Waters into a 7x30 JDJ. That is provided I quit spending $$$ on everything else.

FA 83 454, covers all territory, and does so very nicely.

just one handgun......it'd be my Clements tweaked 5-1/2" ruger bisley in 44 mag.

why? while there are other cartridges that may be better suited for certain situations, I don't believe there is any cartridge that is any more flexible than the 44 mag. With the right bullet/load it can handle from our smallests varmints to many of the largest game animals

if in a bind, you can find hunting ammo on shelves of most sporting goods stores.

the bisley grip frame is my preferred grip frame. I also like the way the 5-1/2" barrel balances along with the bisley grip frame. While the extra weight of a longer barrel doesn't bother me....... imo,it can get a bit unwieldly.

One? Yikes -- glad I don't have to choose one! Either my .500 JRH BFR or my SRH in .475 Linebaugh. I choose one that is capable of handling anything and everything.

Only one????? WOW, that is tough for me.

I love my revolvers and if I could only have one, it would be a FA 454. However, if I am limited to only one for all hunting, I would have to take my FA single shot 338 Federal.

It's more important where you hit 'em, than what you hit 'em with.

Oh this is so dangerous...what if my wife sees this? She may actually think I could do with just one. (So honey, this is just make-believe)

I'd have to go with my FA M83 in 454. I like this gun so much I have 2 of them

One? What a dreadful thought!

I love my revolvers too, but if forced to use one handgun for all hunting it would be a .375 JDJ on a G2 frame. Large enough for anything, plus it shoots relatively flat for longer range shots on elk and deer.

If we are talking dream guns ... FA 83 in 454 w/ 45lc cyl.

If we are going to the safe ... Encore in 45 lc with an 8" bull barrel.

I would say the .375 JDJ would do it all very easily. It has the power to kill elephants, and the accuracy as well as trajectory to pop prairie dogs at several hundred yards. Overkill, maybe, but dead is dead. Remember, we are picking just ONE to DO IT ALL. Plus, there is a good bullet selection for it, thanks to the .375 H&H. You can reload for it or buy factory ammo.

It will absolutely, DO IT ALL.

If only one it would be my 10 FA in 454 Casull with its 2.5x8 Leupold. You can load it from mild to wild with pinpoint accuracy at each extreme
