Getting a G2 35 rem tomorrow will the 150 sp be a good bullet to shoot, and what type of recoil will I get from it? Im new to this.

factory ammo? i've never used it, but 150gr remingtons should do ok on deer. i know people that have.
i'd guess the 160gr hornady leverevolution factory ammo to do ok on deer too.

with handloads, 180gr hornady ssp is a good one over h322.

as far as recoil i don't think factory ammo will be too abusive. it should be loaded at milder lever action levels. when you get into single shot handgun loads there is a noticeable change. still rather mild compared to some of the real handcannons though. it all depends on your tolerance.

Don't know what barrel you have or what your experience level is
but the 150 should shoot well with mild recoil. I shoot 180 gr speer flat nose or 200 gr. rem sp's from my guns with very good accuracy, especialy the 180's .Recoil is aboul like a hot .357 with the 150 gr.With a brake they are even milder ,but LOUDDDDD.

The old 35 is a thumper, but IMHO not with 150s. I would recommend the 180s or 200s as per above.

Congrats on the 35 Rem, that cartridge has served me very well and I am sure it will do the same for you. I use a 200 grain Remington Core Lock (yea, they still sell those, no special plastic tip, copper hollow point, exotic metals, etc...) and it works like a dream. The recoil is not bad in my Super 14, about on par with a hot 44 Mag in a Blackhawk. I am pushing the 200g bullet w/ 36 grains of Varget and get nice 1.5" groups at 100-yds at about 1900FPS (according to the chrony, hard to believe though). I am seating the bullet in the crimp grove and touching the neck with a lee factory crimp die to ensure tension, nothing fancy. I would save the 150's for varmints though; even the 158 XTP are best kept at 357 Mag velocities IMO but your mileage may vary. Best of luck!

ditto on geojanitor, I use the same bullet with Accurate 2015. Same good results with both the Rem 200 gr. round nose and spire point.

I would like to try the 35rem in a contender myself. I'm not a recoil junkie, but it would be a thumper with a 180-200g bullet. I like Core-lokt Geo-Janitor. Been shooting them a long time and always does a good job.

I'm glad someone else likes and shoots them. If you believe the gun writers you would think it takes a Barnes X, Siwft A-Frame or Nosler Partition to kill anything bigger than a cottontail.

i've heard numerous other good reports/reviews on the 200gr rem round nose in 35rem over many years. my first 35 has only shot the 180gr hornady spitzer. it shoots good, so that is all i've tried.
man....i'd like to try the 200gr rem round nose bullets in 357maximum. anybody ever?

i use the hornady 180's and they have always done the job, once shot a double at 70 yards thru the heart of the first one and through the nose -just below the eye on the second one- poor planning on my part, but had tags enough and a good example of what the bullet can do . the second one dropped in her tracks, the heart shot ran 40 yards and quit.

I have killed a number of deer and some other critters with the 200 gr. R-P RNCL bullet in the 35 Remington, and never found it lacking. This bullet is also quite accurate in my .357 Max, 35 Herrett, and 358 Win. handguns. Many handgun hunters select far more expensive bullets than necessary just because they are "unique or "cool", and do not get the desired results because of an incorrect application. In most of these cases an old school bullet from R-P, WW, or Federal would have been perfect for the task.

In 2007, I shot a whitetail doe square in the chest with a .35 Remington red box Federal 200 gr "Power Shok" factory round to test this theory. Measured penetration was 22" with 83% retained weight and a perfect mushroom. I had purchased this ammunition almost 20 years ago for $2.00 per box on a closeout sale. Would a $5.00 per round bullet have been more effective? How much deader does it need to be? It works for me.

One of my friends shoots 180 grain bullets in his .35 Contender. He has taken many deer and last year killed one at 190 yards.

! I was shooting hand loads that came with it (200gr) and the recoil was almost like my BHH 44 mag. I traded the barrel for a 30.30 and now I wish I didnt. I thought about getting another one but I have my 30.30 dialed in. From someone thats recoil sensitive I liked the 35 Rem. I would suggest Packy grips for it though even though the wood furniture I had wasnt too bad.

The 180 gr.speer f.p.shoots better in my 2 .35 barrels 3/4 in@ 100 than the 200gr.rem .But the 200gr.rem. shoot more than good enough 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 in.for where I hunt, at half the price in bulk packs. 200 yds is as long a shot as I can get in any direction, except straight up.

So I've shoot her a few times 150 gr is pretty nice is that ok for deer or should I just go for 200gr??

A 150 grain soft point or B-Tip should work fine, as long as it is running fast enough.

So I have to shoot factory no time to handload so I might just go for the Hornady leverevoultion.

The Hornady would be as good as any, and better than some.

The 150 should be fine for deer if they shoot good in your gun. Bullet placement is everthing!!!! No matter what bullet you use 150 or 200 shoot it enough to be confident in your shot placement.{lots of trigger time] Then go hunt and concentrate on bullet placement and trigger squeeze, and not what bullet you are using.

My plan is to burn alot 150's through it so I can get very accurate with her. Try 150's deer hunting than work my way up to 200's next year.

So the speer 180's is a factory load

Sorry no , you have to reload that one. I shoot very little factory ammo,usually to get brass for something I dont have already, all my hunting is done with reloads.

I have recently purchased a 35 rem myself and I cannot wait to try it. I bought some 15ogn Rem CL but was told they would not be nearly as good as the Hornady Leverevolution so I am planning on trying both.

I also have a 41 mag has anyone had any exp with this caliber on deer

I killed my first handgun deer with a .41 in 1985. All I had was Remington factory 210 grain jacketed softpoint ammunition. One round at 50 yards hit a doe in the center of the chest as she faced me. She swapped ends and ran 10 yards before crashing. I was impressed that the bullet expanded well from my S&W M57 4".

I have used various 41s on numerous deer sized animals. Have used Rem 210 factory loads with success. My favorite hand load uses 210 XTPs. Hit them where you should & you will have no problem.

I am dialed in with fusion 210gn HP I hope these will do the trick

The Fusion bullet performed very well for me out of the Casull at modest velocities. It should do well out of the 41 too...

And don't sleep on those CoreLokts - several experenced fans of the 35 use it as their primary bullet of choice...

Welcome to HHI. Those Rem core-lokt 200 gr RN are dynamite in my 35 Rem T/C, 358 JDJ, 358 WCF. Take a good look at them. More bang for the buck!

well there is a definate difference in the corelokt 150 and 200 grn and a big difference in the rem vs hornady I think I am going to stick with the 200 grn hornady bullet in the 35rem its a handful but I am hoping that equals claen kills if I do my part
