In a lack of wisdom, also know as a brain fart around my house, I decided to drill an extra hole in my Contender forearm. It was set up to use a hanger bar and I needed a forearm that would accommodate a single rear hole barrel. Well, I fixed my wood mismatch problem and then I had this nasty hole in the back of my forearm. I had a quote of 70+ to fix it by putting a small wood design in its place. Knowing that I paid 125 for my set I wasn’t to keen on this idea. So I figured why not put something there my self. I have quite a few Military coins that would look REALLY cool there but they were all too big. I needed something the size of a Quarter. So, I got a 200 year bicentennial quarter and thought it would fit my needs. It isn’t 100, but it is a LOT better than what was there.

I mounted the forearm on a piece of wood and took it to the Base Hobby Shop to use the drill press.

They told me that I should just drill squarely over the previous hole. I keep my mouth shut because I grew up in a wood shop and just did it my way. I didn’t mount it to a board for nothing. LOL I used two C clamps to mount the wood to the press.

I forgot to level the forearm. I did a good job squaring it were I wanted to hole, but I forgot about the slop of the wood. Consequently, the bottom of the hole wasn’t as clean as I wanted it, but it still turned out ok. Like I said above, it is a LOT better than it was!!

I thought about that, I just thought the coins would be easier to keep clean. I wish I had access to a buffalo nickle...

I also thought the “drummer quarter” was appropriate because of the 200 year Constatation reference.

DDG Dewey
DDG Lawrence
LPD New York (made from iron from the twin towers)
LPD Arlington (sister ship to the NY, commemorating the Pentagon)

Naval Special Warfare (CO from a Navy Seal unit)

A coin from the CNO

And a LOT of other really cool coins!!!
