Ok, got my order from midway a few days ago and will be in the garage loading all day friday. The two bullets I purchased were the CPB 300gr gc and the 335gc. Both hard cast. will be using h110 and cci 350 primers. Anyone have some favorite recipes?

And can someone tell me if IMR4227 and H4227 are the same powder?
Thanks Guys

They burn so close in speed that Hodgdon discontinued H4227 for the IMR version. If you find any H4227 it is old stock. Data is interchangeable.

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

I had a Ruger Bisley several years ago and the throats were a tad small for cast, might want to try one and see.

21.5 Gr of H110 for the 300gr and 20.0 gr of H110 for the 335gr. Both have been very accurate for me in my Ruger S/S Bisley Blackhawk. Velocities are 1305 fps and 1233 fps out of a 5.5" barrel.

I don't know what handgun is being fired here.

Just to be safe: I assume that everyone here knows the above conversation is for 45 Colt Ruger/TC only loads and NOT 45 Colt standard pressure loads.

I agree and I hope it is not a new Ruger Vaquero either.

I shoot a 355gr wfn in my 45 Colt BisleyHunter with the same load as above. 21.5gr H110. I'm right at 1200fps. I think I'm .5gr over Hodgdon max Ruger Only load.

I went to the range yesterday with my new FA 83 Packer, and shot some 255 grn hard cast on 21 grains of H110. I did not have many rounds, and so did not really get any accuracy dialed in, wanted to get used to handling the gun and the 3"bbl. But the thing I can't get over was the complete lack of any real recoil. Is this normal with this load? Is it a soft load, or is there that much diferance between a 44 mag and a 45LC? We have 44's loaded with a 305 grn hard cast and the same powder, 21 grn of H110, and the recoil in a 4 5/8 NMSBH is almost double. I am a greenhorn in the handloading field, but I know some of it is the differance in 255 and 305 grn lead.

If it were supposed to be easy, they'd have sent my little sister to do it.
