My taste buds are craving a Ruger Mark pistol. If I pull the trigger it will be the target version instead of the 22/45 because of the feel. My question or questions are I see that the Mark 3 comes with a weaver rail,is the Mark 2 capable of the weaver rail also and are the mag releases the same?

asquires2,
the MKII is capable of having a rail fit, but it requires that the receiver is drilled and tapped. The MKIII is already drilled and tapped. The MKII, not the 22/45 series, has the mag release European style, at the bottom of the mag well. The 22/45 series and the MKIII series have the mag release on the left side of the grip, a la 1911.

I really got the itch when I realized how much it cost me to go to the range for a couple hours with my big guns, ouch! Now I can take one big gun and the Mark and have fun without going bankrupt buying ammo. Not to mention the Mark looks sweet.

Yup, they are a bucket of fun, and are pretty dang accurate. Lots of goodies to dress them up, and make them better shooters. The wide match trigger sure unleashed the potential of my "slabside", and a scope looks and feels right at home.

Only difference between the II and III is a loaded chamber indicator or a lock, neither needed. Some Mark II's were drilled and tapped and came with a base. Accuracy is superb even the Mark I was fantastic. The .22 has it's problems with ammo so the right stuff needs found. I like CCI, Mini Mag HP's for general use and Fed bulk is decent but if you find the right ammo, this is what can be done at 25 yards. 9 in one hole and my screw up with the last shot.

I have had a couple Mk-I's still have several Mk-II's and One MK-III (sold it to a buddy)it was a blue 6 7/8 GTM-- I had a 2x Nikon on mine-- shot very well even with the cheep ammo and pretty much one hole with the good stuff-- You should not have any trouble getting under 1" @ 50 yds.
I removed the loaded chamber indicator from mine-- just kept getting gumed up and collected dirt.
I have had several with scopes most all would do an 1" or so but the GTM MK-III was by far the best shooter I had.
You should have fun with it--good luck
If it jams force it! If it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

I think the gun was designed the year I was born. It just has to be the best design ever and the longest lived. I paid $37.50 for my first and my brother-in-law still has it and it still shoots the same. I like all the others too, the Browning, the 41, the High Standard, etc. But the Ruger might have been around the longest. I still have two and will never part with them. Enjoy the gun!

I brought away from my house chores and put a few rounds threw my new toy and I must say she's SWEET. The next time I go out will be to see what she can actually do.

I highly recommend the Volquartsen's trigger upgrade. You can do it yourself, or have your gunsmith do it. I have not actually measured mine, but it is light and good enough that I make sure new shooters dry fire it a few times before loading ammo ;^)

Craig I was wanting to know about the trigger made of gold! Does it reduce the trigger travel, what kinda triiger pull can I expect?

depends on how you go witht The Volquartsen parts. When I did Greggs the trigger pull came out at about 2# and broke clean and the trigger does have a sear engagement adjustment that will take the slack out. When I did wtroper's I used the upgraded kits which were substantially more money but the outcome was a step up. They ran around 1 and 1.25# and broke like glass. I was very impressed with the quality and function of the parts. I also installed Wolff springs in both guns.
I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them. John Wayne-The Shootist

your out of luck there, I don't have a basement and if I did you wouldn't want to live in it. During the winter I live below the water table so the water comes up through my yard from underneath Hell the way things are going maybe I should just buy a bunch of acreage and build a compound!

Rod beat me to it, but yes I have all the Volquartsen goodies. I especially like the wide trigger, not a/the gold one ;^) I pretty much think "squeeze" and the shot is off. Highly recommended.
And Rod, the term Compound tends to get the BATFE and neighbors up in a tizzy, got to call it somthing like a retreat or commune then you will be left alone ;^)

And yeah, there must be something in the air!!! Yesterday I just grabbed the same gun -- stainless and everything!! Different scope though.

As much as I buy sell and trade I seriously think this one has found a permanent home. Im working on a deal to get one for my female friend so she will keep her mitts off of mine, lol.

All of my scopes are Leupold now. Tried one red dot from burris, but it was junk. Decided it is WELL WORTH the money to get the best scope you can get.
