Ladies and gentlemen, I thought it would be neat to put all of this year's game in one photo gallery -- something we could do each year. Dear season is well on its way in many states and a number of you have already tagged out. Let's see if we can't put all of our handgun hunted animals of 2012 right here.
cmnash and Pink TC recently posted up some trophies as well as others, let's see 'em here!

So the easy way to do this is to include the keyword 2012 when you submit your photo. You'll need to do this on the 2nd page of the submission process because there is a bug whereas the keywords entered on the first page don't get carried over. If you've already submitted a 2012 photo go to the page showing the full-sized version and click edit. You can add the 2012 keyword and save the change. The photos keyworded as 2012 can be seen here: http://www.handgunhunt.com/photo_viewer.php?keywords=2012

Shot this antelope in Wyoming at 233 yards with a 30-30 Contender. I was asked to shoot a mature animal by the landowner. This doe was dry and was over 6 years old so I am quite proud of her.

I have a photobucket account and it is a pretty easy process. I would suggest opening an account -- uploading photos is easy enough for even me to do it -- LOL!

The process to post a photo in the forum is the same regardless of whether you choose photobucket or upload to the bragging board and others can view your images here if you use the bragging board.

Bears are one of those species that I think you could easily get hooked on hunting. Then again I get hooked on hunting certain animals on a regular basis anyway. Nice bear BBW

Thanks Gary! I have to agree with you, This was my fourth year hunting them, and the first time running my own baits and it was a blast! tons of trail cam pics and excitement every time you go to place bait and see the logs moved.(I am not going to count the first year because I had no idea what I was doing!) I will definitely be going after bears for as long as I have the chance too.
Despite what some people think, they are really good eating too!

Hey Whit. given shot placement and caliber on your hog, I'm betting he didn't last very long following the fireball from your sixgun
Went and worked the 475 out yesterday and hope that I have a chance to use it next week. If not, I'm taking the Sharps so I won't be completely cheating, its a classic

I've enjoyed your photos ladies and gentlemen. It's good to see all of this handgunning success! Here are a couple of North GA hogs I took recently with my S&W 44 Mag revolver and my 209 X 50 Contender: I hope to have a buck to post in the upcoming weeks. Good luck to all this season! Edited to add my North GA buck taken with my 6.5" 629 Classic:

SON OF A GUN!! My hunting season, for big game, doesn't start till November 3. This thread is giving me one heck of an itchy trigger finger!!! All I can go shoot right now is small game and paper. Been doing a LOT of paper punching with the 460 at 200 yards. Groups are now acceptable for hunting!!
These pics are awesome guys! Congrats to all those who have taken something this year, and to those of us who have not, well, OUR TIME IS COMING!!!

BB, the doe was taken with a SSK .325 WSM, Douglas barrel, 200 gr. Sierra Match HPBT. J.D. Jones gave me a bunch of these to test on animals. Light match bullets won't work on larger game-too fragile. This large bullet does fine on deer. I took 6 or so with it this year out past 200 yds. Exits are usually 2=3" with lungs hanging out the hole. It absolutely rips a groundhog apart. Best thing about these bullets are their accuracy. Mine gun shoots them in to 1/2" at 100. Not bad for that big a gun. This deer was taken around 175. Wizzard, the Quiet Gun is a SSK MkIII with integral suppressor. Aguila subsonic 38 gr. HPs took the crow at 48 yds. I took 66 groundhogs with the gun and mostly these bullets this year. Longest shot-94 yds. Not bad for subsonic .22s. Get about 75% one shot kills. This gun and CCI segmented HP subsonics is unbelievable on squirrels (no good on groundhogs).

I got this buck saturday morning with my 209X50 TC Encore handgun. I'm using 100 grs. of Triple 7 powder and a 300 gr. 45 cal. saboted XTP. As you can see the gun likes it and the deer hate it.

Thanks guys The shot was 60 yds with my 5 1/2 in Bisley in .45 Colt. I used a 250 grn.XTP and 20 grn. of 2400 powder. Rib in and rib out, the liver and both lungs. Distance ran after shot approximately 70 yds. All three of my .45s have drawn blood now. Thanks SChunter for the help with the picture.

Greg- great photo. Was that one of the bulls you saw earlier?
CMnash- great job on the black bear. I am yet to run into one.
The God who gave us such a beautiful land, wonderful game, and the sport of hunting is worth knowing.

CMNash: Good job on the bear! Good shot although I have been with you shooting prairie dogs and I do not doubt your ability at all!
SBHunter81: Yes I believe that is one of the bulls I scouted earlier; just didn't get his herd on video.

Well, I killed a 400+ pound black bear last Wednesday with hounds in North Carolina with forum member cottonstalk. But, due to the overcast conditions, which sent the gps system into a fritz, and the absolute impenetrable foliage, we were unable to recover the bear. Talk about depressing. We shot him in the shoulder while treed and he managed to run to another with the dogs in hot pursuit at which time we shot him in the vitals again, after catching up. Both shots knocked the bear off the tree and this last time he ran off, with dogs at his heels when he expired. By the time we got within 100 yards of the dogs, two hours had elapsed, and the dogs broke away from the dead bear as they had lost interest (which is what they do after a while when the animal isn't moving any more). Finding an animal in that mess is like finding a green BB in the grass. In hindsight, we should have simply let him expire after the first tree, but we pushed him off. Bummer. His head was easily three times the size of the 200 pound bear I killed last year. Crap.

Negative. Three are Illinois deer. I've taken four in MS and my son has taken two in MS.

Yes, Greg, I have a lot, but in a cool way. A carpenter friend of mine sawed the side off a large cedar tree, treated it, and put it on the wall of my trophy. I put the antlers of my large deer not quite good enough to mount on it from top to bottom, and call it my antler tree. It's full now, so these bucks were put on one rectangular board, european mount of the 18" and antlers of the other two on each side. They were nice, but I have a 125" and 183" mounted. Getting a space problem, too. The Africa bug is filling my room.

Doc, I know the problem. Last year's revolver elk (bleached skull with 5X5 antlers) is out in the barn; along with a 7X7 BP elk skull/antlers and my Alaska handgun caribou bull shoulder mount; along with over 2 dozen other sets of horns; and this year's big 6X6 bull and big muley (bleached skulls/revolver) will probably end up out there also.
My P&Y Bull Elk and World Record Handgun Muley (shoulder mounts) are in the house; along with two other huge bull elk (revolver shoulder mount and BP shoulder mount), plus numerous other sets of elk and deer antlers. Oh...plus a whitetail buck shoulder mount and antelope shoulder mounts and sets of horns and a life-size bobcat and coyote and fox furs and...
When do you decide to build a bigger house?
