As many of you here know, Mark Hampton and I were invited to the SCI Hunter's Convention to help promote Alternative Weapons Hunting, along with other "Celebrities" in the hunting world. Each of the Celebrities was asked to make a video; concerning their chosen "alternative weapon." The SCI Website now has this Alternative Weapons Hunting section up and running. It can be viewed here: http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/recordbookEach of the videos can be viewed; and those that have been asking for Mark's articles can view them here. We can all get in this together and help further Handgun Hunting by joining and having our animals scored. The intention is to have a brand new record book just for Handgun Hunting, as well as to increase SCI membership. SCI fights to protect our hunting rights all over the world.

I've contacted many magazines(even American Hunter by the NRA) and asked that they put more handgun hunting articles in their books, with not much response? I can not afford the SCI, lucky to be able to get out of Illinois and hunt much less Africa. Steve

Steve, that is a misconception among a lot of people about SCI. They are not just a "Safari" oriented club, they do stuff for ALL hunting around the world, and do a lot for us in the states.
For example, SCI was greatly involved in supporting the wolf hunt here in MN this year. I was getting all kinds of emails, and was given opportunities to become involved.
Great organization that I feel is every bit as important as the NRA if not more so

Jeff When has SCI defended our right to keep and bear arms? When has SCI won a Supreme court case defending our right to Keep And Bear Arms? Not nearly as important as the NRA

Steve, It will cost $35 per year for a membership along with a great magazine to belong to a world hunting authority that, as Jeff says, is THE organization for standing up for our hunting rights. This $35 is something that is NOT out of alignment for joining any pro-hunting organization; esp. one as important as SCI. A fee that if hunting is as important to you as it is to me, is well worth it.
JWP, I do not want this discussion to become "NRA vs. SCI". If you are a responsible legal gun owner and also a serious "dyed in the wool" hunter, I do not see how one can afford to not be a member and a supporter of BOTH organizations.
And just in case you haven't looked around lately, ESPECIALLY these days.

oops my apology, they raised it since I joined; but I still maintain that it is a good organization to support if you are a real hunter.
I still have several dozen 50% off coupons that will be honored for those that will pursue this to get the SCI Handgun Hunting Records Book published to help preserve the past history as well as lead the future for all of handgun hunting.
Just send me a PM.

Gregg, I've looked all over their website without finding any information about handgun hunting or the book you promote? Is this the site you say is more about handgun hunting, http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/? If not, please give me a link to the site you mentioned. Steve

S.B., I believe Gregg is referring to the record book thread. When you go to the site you listed, then click on record book, you will be directed to the page where short video clips can be viewed. You will see a video that Gregg and others, including myself, did to promote alternative methods and the record book. This page also links to my six part series I wrote on handgun hunting, covering a lot of ground in those six articles.
Hope this helps.

I thought he referenced a new SCI website, in the first post in this thread? I see that he's edited his first post to enclude a link to this, thanks. Steve

Steve Steve, the website I referred to was the link I first posted: http://www.scifirstforhunters.org/recordbookIf you would have clicked on it then it would have taken you right there. I am sorry about the confusion. Mark, thanks for helping get it sorted out.

That is great. They do keep up with exotic scores as well. Anything that promotes short barrel hunting is good. reflex264

No sir, they have not all been taken. I have dozens.
My apology; the past 3 weeks have been rough with my recovery, and I may have lost your address. Please PM me with your address and how many you would like.
Thank you.
Gregg
PS: I recently talked to Mr. Michael Roqueni, SCI Record Book/World Hunting Awards Director. The deadline for submitting you handgun kills for the SCI Handgun Records Book has been extended for at least another year. And he is still accepting (my) coupons. So please consider having your handgun trophy scored and entered in the book.
PM me and I will send you coupons (as many as you need) for 50% off on the record book entry fee.
