Raptor, I don't want to screw you up but the one positive about the 6 O'clock hold is the ability to see the target. Irons will cover up alot of a deer or elk at a relatively short range. I will aquire a target with the first position and then move to the others to account for bullet drop at distance.

IMO, 6 o'clock works fine for a specified target spot at a specified distance. Animals do not have a specified target spot on them and are seldom at any specified distance. I prefer the center hold and will adjust up the body for distance, although there is little or no adjustment necessary for most revolvers out to 100 yards with a proper point blank zero. Some much further.

it definitely applies more to target shooting but if I see a crease or dark spot I'll aim the same way. It's a matter of finding out what's most comfortable and works best for you.

YEP what they said! Heck I have a buddy that shoots with the front sight covering up the area he wants to hit....Don't know how he does it but it works for him...shorter ranges though

When you use the 6:00 o'clock hold you have a definite and well defined aiming point,which is critical to good groups. Just adjust your sights to put the group at the bottom of the dot instead of the middle.A consistent repeatable grip is the starting point then consistent sight alignment[1/64 in.out of alignment of the sights on a 6 inches barrel = several inches at 5o yds. Then add in consistent trigger pull,wind, light angle,and where your head is at the time.How the hell do they do it?????PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!! If you get frustrated lay it down and do something else for a while . You can't be consistent when you are aggravated.

raptor,you have gotten some great advice.Getting good with irons means lots of burned powder.From reading the post I'd say you might be a recoil junkie.

HAHA!! I have been working on the suggested advice, and groups are getting more consistent. Not much smaller yet, but more consistent. Which to me is improvement. This is NOT with the 26.1 grain loads, but rather with the factory cheap stuff from the store.

I'm getting there, and the burned powder and recoil is half the fun!!
