Well, maybe not all of you, but some of you did!! I was told it was cheaper to reload my own, so I bought all the stuff, and got set up.

Well, that has NOT been the case at ALL!!!

I bought 3 boxes of 100 hardcast bullets from Cast Performance when I got my 500JRH made earlier this year. I received my gun a couple months ago, but I am now 25 shots away from using up all three of those boxes!!! Now I gotta order more!!!

Someone explain to me how this is CHEAPER???!!!!

HAHAHAHA!!!!! Just kidding guys!!! I LOVE THIS STUFF!!!! Save a ton of money just to go shoot it all up anyway!

Good luck at not having to reload for that handcannon.
Branch out and get into casting, that is where the fun starts, pretty soon, you find yourself at salvage yards and critiqueing hardness levels. Dreaming of lynotype! The ultimate junky is digging in the shooting range looking for lead to see performance. Or shooting into 5 gallon buckets of wet sand in order to check performance.

HAHA!!!! This stuff is like crack cocaine!!! I don't have time to add casting into the mix of my day. And besides, the 440gr bullet I am getting from Cast Performance would be extremely hard for me to improve on, so I'll stick with it.

raptor...,

You never save money, just more bang for each buck! That is what I tell all who consider reloading.

Yeah, I know Doc. I was just joking / being sarcastic. But we don't have that sarcastic face yet.

I could never do this handgun thing if it wasn't for reloading. Adds a whole new dimension to it!!

Isn't e=mc(squared) translated: enjoyment = more casting squared

I started loading my own this spring due to lack of finding ammo. I've definately sent a lot more lead downrange because of it.

Yeah, after I got the 460 last spring, I realized finding ammo was going to be an issue. I couldn't tell you how many handloads I've fired since I got the equipment last July. Since creating a handloaded round costs roughly 50 cents per reload as opposed to paying $3 to $3.50 per factory cartridge, I've almost reclaimed the cost of the equipment.

Now its just finding components that hard.

My 460 gets a pretty good workout, thus, so does my reloading equipment with the 460 components. I feel like I struck gold yesterday. I found TWO boxes of 300gr XTP MAG's at Cabelas! Picked em both up and they are now on the reloading bench, waiting their turn.

I went to hardcast with everything else I shoot. I REALLY like the Cast Performance bullets, and they seem to be available any time I order. Knock on wood, I've never had anything backordered from them. Just ordered two more boxes this morning of the 335gr WLNGC's for my 45 Colt, and sure enough, they are in stock as always. I've gotten so bad that I have the bullets for the 45 Colt and the 500 JRH bookmarked at the top of my screen so its easy to place an order!!!

My biggest problem, as far as components are concerned, is finding powder. I found 6 pounds of Lil gun, and have a load worked up for the 5000JRH and the 45 Colt using that powder, but I wish I could find a steady supply of it. I shoot those two guns the most, so every time I go, I find myself doing a quick inventory of powder just to make sure I have enough in reserve to go burn what is already loaded.

I hate that feeling...

For me, bullets are the hardest components to find. I have plenty of old factory brass and two nearby stores I frequently visit regularly stock the powder and primers I need, but I can never find the bullets. Cabelas and Midway usually have them in stock, though. I may need to get into bullet casting.

Everything is still hard to find here. I just got 250 cases from Starline that I ordered in May...still waiting on some cast bullets from Penn bullets I placed the same day. I spoke with the guy that runs Penn bullets and he said he's just caught up on his orders thrum March. Said in his years of making bullets, he's never experienced anything like the run on ammo and components like now.

Folks,

http://www.wideners.com still has Nosler Handgun Partitions in 357/180 gr and 45/300 gr.. About $24 / 50. Also has Wolf primers. Decent folks to deal with.

I find reloading extremely relaxing. After a tough day at work, I retire to "my" room crank up the country music and the reloading press. Not to mention the money I save in shooting.

magman,me too!!I find I almost have as much fun reloading as shooting,..I turn my radio on kick back and relax while reloading,...when I'm not reloading I'm firing up my lead pot with wheelweights so I'll have plenty of bullets to reload and shoot-this is extremely cost effective for shooting with the S & W 500 magnum.
