This morning at 9am the first Gander Mountain in SC opened it's doors to the public. Me being the smart guy that I am knew that a new store opening would have full shelves even at the expense of starving some of their other stores. So I got there early(6:30am) to make sure no hoarder would wipe them out before I could get a few pounds of HS-6 and H110(W296). When the time came; I was the 2nd thru the doors and was on my way to the 'reloading' section when a sales associate asked if they could help me. I asked where the gun powder was and received the answer "we do not carry any reloading supplies". I thought for sure this new employee was mistaken and continued to search for the powder. After being asked by the store manager I was informed again that they did not carry reloading supplies; but did carry some black-powder(substitute)and caps. What a let down. I was so disappointed I forwent buying a brick or two of .22s and went to work.

The two Gander Mountains within driving distance have almost completely run out of reloading supplies. They may carry a few bullets, a manual or two, shotgun wads, and a handful of the cheaper plastic tools like media/brass sifters and lubrication pads. Neither of them have had anything good since December of 2012.

When the new Gander Mountain opened in Greenfield, Indiana, I was surprised to discover that there was no reloading section.

Our nearest GM recently closed for a remodel and opened as a firearm/hunting specialty center...very nice retail space with great inventory of over-priced guns and near zero for reloading supplies. Not what folks were expecting...they appear to have misread this market.

I wish the nearest Bass Pro Shops wasn't a 3 hour drive away in Memphis. They usually have a good selection of reloading supplies.

My local Gander Mtn. stopped loading supplies 2 years ago. Put everything on sale. Apparently no handloaders went there. I made out like a bandit. They had a ton of Hornady .475 XTPs in both weights. Not a lot of call for that in eastern WV and western VA. I waited a while and got them for 30% retail. I shoot a lot of .475 now.

Budabet--Were are you in SC ?? l am in North Augusta.. Same with GM in Augusta Ga that opened Sept 23. Lots of High Price guns/ammo. But no reloading supplies...A big letdown..We do have a little Cabelas that opened last year..They have pistol bullets/primers from time to time..Never any pistol powder tho.Bass Pro Shop was scheduled to build a store here in 2008..Recession killed that one. THen last year they were going to build here but pulled out here again.
So let me know when/were your Bass Pro opens in SC..
thanks

SW282, I'm in Charleston. Yea the Gander was a let down. The Bass Pro is scheduled the middle of 2015. Its supposed to be a big store. They have cleared 40 acres and are building and interchange off of I26 just for the complex. Hopefully they will carry reloading supplies. I'll send you a PM when I hear an actual date.

Badubet-l grew at l-26 and Ashley Phosphate Rd..l can hardly imagine 40acres along l-26 that isn't occupied..Looking at a map with all Bass Pro locations l cant understand why they did not build in Augusta Ga.. Closest one is either Atlanta,Greenville, or Charlotte...After visiting a couple BassPros, Then some Cabelas and GMs.. There is no comparison...BassPro does it the best.. l am jealous..Hopefully BassPro will reconsider locating in Augusta or at least Columbia

Looks like you'll just have to comeback to chuck town and visit. And stock up on supplies too!

Gander Mountain was the place where I bought my first canister of powder and box of primers. After Sandy Hook, though, neither of the two I visit has recovered.

In my experience shopping at GM is like going to the sporting goods department at Walmart; they have everything...except what you need.
Reloading supplies are out, trapping shelves are empty. On the good side, their restrooms are usually immaculate.
Lead, push or get the heck out of the way!
