Gun came in to the store yesterday, but I wasn't able to get there to pick it up due to work. I will get it Monday morning, and it will be promptly put back in the mail and sent to Jack. I picked it up off of Gunbroker.com, most likely from someone on here, or someone that is lurking here and really should jump in and join the fun!
Currently, this is a 44mag Ruger Super Blackhawk. When it comes back, it is going to be a 45 Colt with a 5.5" octagon barrel, Bowen target and Freedom Arms style brass bead post sights, 5 shot cylinder, desert ironwood custom fit grips, Belt Mountain #5 base pin, grip extension, jeweled hammer, and possibly a media blasted finish. I'm also going to talk to Jack about throats and the forcing cone. It will be shooting only the 335gr WFNGC from Cast Performance, so I'll let him know that, and see what he thinks.
So here are the "before" pictures. They are not my photos. They are the photos that were listed in the add when I bought the gun. Hope it isn't illegal to use them, but I'm not going to have the gun in my possession long enough to take pictures before it is sent to Jack. I'm already anxious to get it back, and taking pictures just takes up time that Jack could be working on it!!! HAHA!!!

I don't like you right now. I'm going to really hate you when you get it back from the rebuild.

Paul,
Not trying to rile you up, but isn't that a regular Blackhawk? I know the Hunter Model has that standard trigger guard... Just want to clarify this...
I always thought the Super had that awful squared off trigger guard. At any rate, the one you got is the better trigger guard to go with, for sure.
When I had Rod build my .475, I started with a Bisley Blackhawk in .44 mag.
Another Q: Have you decided against the Bisley grip? Or is that one a Bisley? Just curious.
Gregg

No problem Gregg. I thought the same thing. I was looking for the square trigger guard also. But it is stamped on the frame in another picture "Super Blackhawk". Maybe a change was made at some point on Super Blackhawks or something. As far as the bisley grip goes, I'm going with Jacks grip extension, and custom grips off my hand tracing. The 500JRH he did for me turned out AWESOME with that extension and custom grips. Fits like a glove. Glad I'm not the only one that thought it was odd!! Here is the picture with the stamping. Might have to zoom in to see it, but it is there.

The 5 1/2" and 4 5/8" SBH's have Blackhawk grip frames as standard.

Hey, about that 22mag rebuild I mentioned earlier...
Can ya use a blackhawk frame for that? Maybe an oversized cylinder with, maybe, oh, I don't know.... 30 shots in it??!!

The 335gr Cast Performance over 22gr WW296 gives me 1250 fps out of my 5 1/2 45 colt blackhawk. That is my Alaska fishing camp load. Still have a full box loaded after shooting 50 to get everything set. Prodably a little heavy for a 6 shot blackhawk. That is a beautiful 44 mag just like it is,waiting for the pics when it is really dolled up !!!
