Got my SRH 480 Ruger put together. New grip and a Burris Fastfire 3. Wanted to mount the sight in the front ring mount, but the mounting plate was designed for the rear one only. Got the new ammo in too, now to get it to the range. Have plans to cut the barrel back to around 6 or 6.5 inches in the future.

Nice rig. I like how that sight fits there. Let us know how it holds up to recoil in the single mount.
Rod, too.
Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Nice. I've got a fastfire 3 mounted on my 1911 slide with stout 255gr loads and it holds up. They are rated to 1000g of force

Ahhhhhhhh! Cut the barrel?!?!?
Dang it! That's the exact gun I have in mind if I ever get a .480 Ruger, with 9.5" barrel and everything!
Shame to cut it.

Gene,
Looks good. The big up side to having the sight more to the rear is holster fit, if you are going to holster it. In the rear, almost any standard holster can be easily cut for the sight, and still have good gun fit and retention.

Didnt think about the holster issue. Depending on how short I cut the barrel, a custom one may be required. Cant wiat to shoot it, but going to be next week probably.

Gene, Curious to the ranges you are going to use this setup? I shoot EoTech and SightMark holo sights regularly at 100 yards on a rifle which is the outer range I'll probably use my .454 SRH at. The caliber is capable of more but I'll need to get a lot of range time in to live up to it.

That's a real clean looking set up. Nice!
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Honestly plan on limiting myself to 50 or 60 yds. My whole reason for hunting with a handgun is to get close. If I want to go for long challenging shots, I'll break out one of my long range rifles. May consider a scoped T/C in the future for longer handgun shots.

Finally got to shoot it today. Love it! Recoil isnt bad at all. I definitely need more practice, but the FF3 is holding up so far. Havent shot a handgun bigger than a 45acp in about 2yrs. Forgot how much fun the big ones are.

Gene, shot mine Wednesday for the first time as well. Same set up, different pill (.454). Really like the FF3 so far as well.
