So, there I was.........minding my own business.........dreaming of a new .45 Colt...........and some JackWagon of a friend blindsided me with his Jedi Mind Trick and dropped a link on my phone to this little beast I had to have. As soon as I saw it........I immediately thought of another friend and a gun he owned.

I loved this gun from the moment he had her built. So, when the link this unnamed enabler sent reminded me of my friend Dan and his gun here above, I had to have one similar!!! With slight differences..........of course.

Say hello to my little friend.

Ruger Super Redhawk - "Toklat" - .454 Casull

I wanted to mimic Dan's gun as much as feasible, so I did some scope swapping and put this 2x Leupold on top.

It's not silver, but good enough.

I will also be adding a set of Eagle Classic Rosewood Grips.

I will flat out say............I LOVE THIS GUN!!! Talk about handy! It smokes my 7.5" Super Redhawk as far as indexing and offhand work. I think I've found my new backup hunting rig for those close shots. I've ordered a Blackhawk Shoulder Holster for it. A utilitarian holster no doubt, but one that will do what I need.

My plan is to load and run Hornady 250gr XTP bullets through her. Same ones I'm using in my Encore .460 S&W. Should work well on deer and hogs.

Likely will start load work at 35.0gr H110 and run up to 36.5gr H110. See where the brass says "stop". Any load suggestions?

Oh, don't think you're getting off Scott Free. Your little enable has been duly noted.

There is a 6" GP-100 on the horizon as well.

Thanks.

And no. It's an acquaintance of mine who passed a few years ago. He himself an obvious handgunner. The gun in his hand always intrigued me and inspired this purchase.

I don't think you should limit yourself to up-close shots. That's a nice piece! Looking forward to seeing it pressed into service! Congrats! Oh, and that's a nice tribute!

Oh, I know it'll reach further than "up close". I simply meant, it's portability lends itself to a nice back up gun to one intended for longer distances.

So, if I'm out with my XP-100 or MOA Maximum............and a critter decides to walk in my lap and nibble my buns..........I can utilize this sidearm to dispatch said critter as opposed to whacking him up side the head with an 18" barreled XP.

:-)

And.....Thank you.

I think a black scope looks much better than silver on a stainless gun. Silver scopes look nothing like stainless steel and clash, IMO. Nice piece!

I agree. I am not overly fond of silver scopes. I was just agreeing that, if my goal was to mimic my friends gun.........I'd obviously strayed from the course.

But yes, I prefer matte black scopes.

You'll love it, I've had my Toklat for a few months now and without question it's the most accurate handgun I've owned, very pleased with it and love the size.

The SRH is not a large enough platform for that.

I wish they chambered the SBH in .454 Casull!!! I'd buy a Bisley in a heartbeat!

I really like my Casull. It is a 7.5 inch SRH. I usually run it at 44 mag levels and it is a real pleasure to shoot.
