NICE AND BRIGHT JUST FOR ZEE! Redhawk 44 With the conversion! 10" Green MNT Barrel Harrel Brake 5" Shroud Mono Grip modified with aluminum base pad. I know its not for the traditionalist.... and I know its bright... I just cant wait to see how it shoots. Once the mount gets here it will be wearing a 4x leupold with target knobs.

Ok, I am on board this train........tradition be damned. I've never been a traditionalist and kill as many sacred cows as I possibly can in the firearms industry.
My only non-aesthetic issue (grips and color) is with the ejection rod floating at the bottom. Visually & functionally, I'd prefer the shroud extend below the ejector rod to that last hard edge below the ejector and before it tapers back towards the cylinder.
I feel it would function better to have one continuous surface front to back on the shroud. Less chance of anything getting caught or hanging up on the ejector rod.
Visually, it would flow better to encapsulate the rod and make the bottom of the shroud blend into that lower hard edge under the rod.
That's me and you didn't ask me. So, take it for what it's worth. It's an opinion freely given.
Grips and color are a personal preference. I see the above as a function.
Other than that. I LIKE!!!

What mount (length and location are you going to use? Mounted on the shroud? Top of the receiver? Full length?

Weigand. On the frame
Shroud could be done either way
Color is whatever....I did bright because it gets attention
It's a pocket the rod sits in now. The other side of the rod has aluminum coming down to the bottom of the rod if that makes sense.
This is the first redhawk I made for the shop...I haven't had much of a chance to play with th others I made for customers.
Let's see what this cannon will do. Give me a couple weeks. Prob won't get shot much till Wyshot.
Some poor pdog is going to catch a chunk of lead.

Any chance of a close-up of the shroud/receiver to better visualize the pocket you are referring to?
I am eagerly enthralled in the progression of this project.........

When the scope mount gets here I'll take a bunch of pics.
I was trying to make the front of the gun sit lower....thought it may help in the field shooting.
The gp100 is done the way your wanting. I just have to use a larger dia aluminum stock to start with to do the redhawk the same

I catch a lot of poop from the traditional wheel gun guys over this system.
Truth is I hated it in the beginning. I was a traditional wheel gun guy. But I could never get anything to shoot as good as these. And it's really a simple system.
It grew on me with time. I still love a classic wheel gun.
Constantly updating and changing little things with the system and it keeps getting a little better with each little change.

I have to say, I really like it. Question though: what color is the frame? It looks like you added a slate gray finish or something, or is that just due to the lighting?
You know, you could challenge some of the traditionalists to a competition. Set up a couple of targets at long ranges and see whose gun shoots better.

They're just jealous their traditional gun doesn't shoot as well as your precision built machines.
You sure you don't want to go with a 2.5-8x power scope on that? Seems like it would serve the gun better than a 4x.

Naw..I'm looking at it as a big game getter...
I'll have to run some data and actually test it but I think a 4x will be good for as far as I ethically want to go.

That you put an aluminum end cap on the bottom of your Redhawk grip... You use field bags under your grips more... You love Bog-Gear now.... You are considering using high magnification optics you hadn't considered using on wheelguns (not on the RH though).... Really, it's is all your fault for coming up with the FR!!! I sure didn't come up with that!!! I just shoot and break stuff

Ok, .45 Colt.........
Does the Redhawk have to start out as one before the FR? Or can you convert in the process?

Would rather start with one.
I have the required truing down and it normally doesn't require messing with chambers.
The conversion is so simple it's nuts. Just takes a good bit of machine time to make the components.

Well, locating a Redhawk in a Colt chamber is a pricy endeavor to begin with.

Their still current production Yeah. Already looked. They are rather new to the production line. Meaning............not many if any used ones to cut up. So, it's gotta be new. And they ain't as cheap as GPs. But, believe me. I'm looking.

That's an interesting looking project! Not anymore gaudy than a SW X frame and probably a bit lighter. Can't wait to see the test results.
It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

It's 8oz more than a 6.5" redhawk. So with a 10" barrel I think that's pretty light
I shot it enough today to zero it and kill a groundhog.
I just randomly picked a load....imr 4227 and a sierra 240.
I only shot it at 50 yds and shots were just touching.
Bag pressure and grip will be different with this vs the 357. The 357 I let free recoil and it really doesn't move. The 44 has some mild recoil and the muzzle rises about 3-4" off the bags with a one hand hold and one hand on the bag.
Follow through I have always found to be key with the wheel guns...I'll have to perfect the different hold with this one to really shrink the group. Won't take much but I'm slightly swamped with work and I'm trying to get ready for Wyshot.
I will do some shooting with it in video at Wyshot. Poor pdogs....
