I was fortunate to take the first game animal with the new 30 Raptor cartridge in a 14" T/C Contender. A big mature doe at 80 yards using a 125 grain Sierra Pro Hunter at a modest 2275 fps. I will do further load development this winter and should be able to achieve 2400 fps. with the 125 grain bullet with a little more work.

Good on ya. I really like what I have read about the 7mm Raptor and would like to build an AR around it.
Rod, too.

Gary Reeder Ammunition Company makes the 240 Raptor, 257 Raptor and 6.5 Raptor from the 204 case. I have shot the 6.5 Raptor. Like a 6.5 TCU on steroids. There is a company called Raptor Shooting Systems that makes a 7 Raptor and 45 Raptor. Kirby Allen of Allen Precision that builds some fine XP's has come Raptor cartridges that are long range stuff. Never heard of the 30 Raptor yet. Mike

The 30 Raptor is one of a series based on the 204 Ruger cartridge. The three originals were 6mm, .257, and 6.5mm. I have taken two animals with the 257 Raptor, a Sika deer and this whitetail doe taken at a lasered 269 yards with a witness using a 100 grain Sierra SP. The 257 Raptor will send a 100 grain bullet out of a 14" barrel at 2575 fps. and a 87 grain at 2665 fps. This doe was taken at the same location a few days later with the 6.5 Raptor using a 100 grain Nosler BT at 2400 fps. The 7mm and 30 Raptor prototype barrels were built this fall and dies have just now become available.

It is based on the 222 Remington. The 7 RAPTOR maintains the body taper of the 222 Remington along with the base to body/shoulder intersection length of the 222 Remington. This means the case can be formed directly from 222 Remington without pushing the shoulder back and trimming 3mm (.118"). In addition, the 7 RAPTOR can be formed from 223 Remington or 5.56 NATO with pushing the shoulder back and case trimming (5mm or .197").
Rod, too.

The 7 Raptor I was referring to is based off the 204 Ruger, or 222 Remington Magnum case. This case is .463" longer than a 222 Remington.

Interesting. Didn't know there were two of them. The 7 Raptor I've been looking at is designed for the AR15 platform, and the magazine restrictions therein.
Rod, too.
