It is PW season on the MA I hunt so I took my CVA Optima pistol. About 4 pm I heard something sloshing through the water. Here comes this big black hog hobbling on one front leg. At 25 yards I shot him in the neck and he fell over. He was breathing hard and then he rolled up on his belly. I shot him again between the shoulders. He fell over again and after a few minutes got up on his hind legs. I got down from my stand and eased toward him. He saw me and started growling so I made sure to keep a tree between me and him. At about 20 feet I put the dot between his eyes and that was all it took. He was one mean tough old boar.

Good on ya. They can be tough to kill.
Rod, too.

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

I use 2 Triple Seven 50 pellets and a TC Shockwave 240. The pistol is zeroed at 50 yards.

I just posted pictures of my kills this season on the Braggin Board. I wonder how far the Optima pistol will shoot accurately?

From some of the groups I've seen shot by others I would say much farther than most think. Only way to tell is get out and shoot it. For mine with me shooting it's about a hundred yards.

I have only tried the 2 Triple 7 50 pellets with the Shockwave 240. It is dead on to 50 yards. In the swamps that I hunt a longer shot is rare and most are around 25. What powder and bullet does one use to get an accurate shot up to 100 yards?

Billyb, zero your current load 2" high at 50 yards and you've got a 100 yard load.
