I am not sure if i want a scope or red dot for hunting on my SBH 45 colt, i bought a cheap $10 mount off ebay to try, now i need suggestions on a cheap scope to try out to see if i like it. It doesnt have to last for ever, just to decide if i like it before spending more cash on a good one. I am not sure i will like either so i dont want to sink a bunch of money into something until i am sure.

Cheapest I use is a 4x Simons Pistol Scope. I have several on low recoiling guns from .22lr to .357 Mag and the heaviest being my .35 Remington.

They've lasted so far. Not high dollar glass, but a decent 100+/- yard pistol scope you don't lose your shirt over if it breaks.

They run $99 on Midway and I get them when they go on sale or clearance for $75 or less.

Ncstar 2.5 x 30 pistol scope on ebay for about $40 shipped. Lol, cant imagine it holding up on a kicker.....but.....i did have one on a ruger mkII 22lr once upon a time that was fine for the use.
Call it an experiment?.....and let us know lol.

I could try it with some colt cowboy loads, then after I have decided i could run a cylinder of heavy 454 through it just to see if it explodes and shoots glass everywhere!

Might be more worried about the mount holding up than the scope ;-)

Rod, too.

Short cuts often lead to long recoveries.

Its an old 1980's no drill mount, thing looks similar to a weigand but its built like a brick. It would definitley hurt if it flew off haha
