This time with a 2-7x Burris pistol scope on top.

Now that I'm building a Bolt Action Specialty Pistol in .308 Winchester, I took the .308 barrel off my MOA Maximum and installed the .338-06 A-Square barrel again.

I had already worked up a load in the past using 200gr Ballistic Silvertip bullets. So, all I needed to do today was zero the barrel. Did some math with the 2,528 fps velocity and decided a 220 yard zero would put me 3" high at 100 yards and 8" low at 300 yards. That would work for my purposes.

Set up the rest and worked on the zero.

Getting what I was after, I moved to the 300 yard line and shot at the steel plate.

The Holland Radial Brake works pretty darn well as you can see in the video. Here is a picture of the max muzzle rise in recoil.

Not bad at all. Blast is pretty wild, but the recoil isnt. The brake actually dips the muzzle down and back!

I've not taken anything with this barrel yet. So, I will work on rectifying that this year.

That's a very effective brake!

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

338-06 is my favorite round. I've got one in a long gun I built several years ago. They hit like the hammer of Thor, and are easy to load for.

Beautiful pistol you have there.

I was wrong. It's an MOA brake and not a Holland. But yes, pretty darn effective.

Sweet! I've not taken any game with it but looking forward to doing so this year.

I started out using a 200 grain B-Tip in mine. Average velocity was 2750. Switched to the Barnes 185 TSX and never will load anything else in it. I'm slinging mine out of a 24" tube at 2900 fps. Like I said, it's a hammer.

If I didn't already have a 338 Fed in a pistol, I'd do a 338-06 in a heart beat. I feel it's one of the most versatile rounds ever made. The WV deer sure to hate it!

I look forward to seeing you bloody it.

I keep contemplating a .338 Federal as well. Most likely a rifle. Just haven't found the platform I want yet.
