OK, we have a thread on favorite deer hunting revolver and favorite big game revolver. I am a fan of small game hunting and trapping revolvers. So show us you .22, .22 mag, .32 mag, .38, .357 and any other wildcats you may use for small game. Hell, throw in a shot of the leather you carry it in as well as some of the game taken. Some small game starts on September 1 and ends here at the middle of March. Big game is only a few weeks but we spend more time talking about, practicing, reloading and tweaking our gear for it than the small game so here is the opportunity to give it it's chance to shine!!!

My favorite small game gun is a S&W model 17 K-22. I have 2 of them. A 6" classic that was manufactured in the 50s and a 8 3/8" that I purchased in the early 80s. I will post pics later. I have a Weaver style rail mounted on the barrel of the 8 3/8" with a 4x scope. I can QD the scope and still use the iron sights when I want. I have taken all manner of small game and varmints with these guns. They are my favorite range guns.

My favorite for squirrels and other small game is my Ruger Single-Six. No modifications other than fiber optic sights and I replaced the grip frame. For varmints and other critters at a longer range, I grab my custom revolver chambered in 218 Mashburn Bee.

Mine is the 32 magnum, hands down! You can load it down to take grouse or bunnies with no more damage than the 22 rimfires or load it up for big jackrabbits, badgers, fox, coyote, ground squirrels, javelina, snapping turtles, etc. if you need to. With cast bullets & 3 grs. of WST or 231 you can load over 2,300 rounds with one lb. of powder & run those 100 gr. cast slugs 950 fps, I do it year round.

Mine would be my 4 Inch 617 S&W. I have always considered it to be my practice revolver, however I do carry it in the woods. I have a couple holsters, a Pancake for practice, and a Bianchi 5BHL for more secure carry.

Thanks to Sixshot -- my favorite small game revolver has become Ruger's Single-Seven. I didn't know the .32 H&R Mag. would be this much fun! Thanks Dick!

I don't really chase small game anymore. When I did I used what I had , my first handgun purchased at "coming of age"(21). It was a used Ruger Single Six w/the 9.5" barrel. That gun accounted for several groundhogs, squirrel, a few skunks, a sweet corn raiding raccoon & a large feeder steer (not small game, I know!) Wish I still had that gun.
