Here are the pictures of the treepod with a bit more detail that you asked for. The only modification to the out of the box design is the added shelf. One thing I would suggest is add either paint or some outdoor urethane to protect the plywood or wood of choice. I would also think metal plating would work as well. The leather bag was purchased unfilled for ~$15.00, I filled it with corn-cob tumble media. The shelf is 5.5" wide 6.5" long near the size of the leather bag. If you choose to switch to a rifle just add the stock rest back into the slot the shelf can stay put. This also works on the Caldwell - Fieldpod which I use for coyote hunting.
Check out youtube there are a few reviews/examples of the tree pod and the amount of swing this allows you to have. I have handgun hunted now for 20 years and prefer treestand for deer, this is by for the best I have come up with where I did not have to reinvent the wheel. :-) This allows me to mirror my range practice in the tree.
