I passed on two small ones, (both in the crosshairs for plenty of time) and yesterday, I had a fleeting chance at a nice sized buck, (saw antlers, no count on points...) he was just a bit too far away, maybe, but mainly obscured by brush and trees before he disappeared...
Oh, well. My father (now 62), got 3 deer this year, asking me, well, why I didn't just carry my '06, because i coulda gotten that buck yesterday... I just explained that it wouldn't be the same... after 20 years of long gun hunting... I finally got my handgun permit, I want to use it till I succeed!! It was a fun season anyway, and at least I learned practicing restraint. thought it was a little frustrating yesterday, it was easier to show restraint with little deer instead of a nice buck... Oh, well...
Now onto muzzleloader season!!!
