Matthew, other than being an incredibly nice guy, is legitimately the best shot with a handgun that I've ever seen 👍🏻 Quite a compliment. I know I was impressed with his shooting last year in SC. We did a little steel field shoot, and he did great with factory ammo and a set-up that was at a disadvantage compared to the other handguns. I would love to see both of you at WY-SHOT.

Thanks David for starting this thread and sharing so many great photos of yourself and others. It is clear by their popularity, that the whitetail is America's game animal. David, I didn't realize just how many deer you had slain. WELL DONE ! Thanks for the compliments on my marksmanship, but I can assure you there better shooters out there. What you have seen from me is a result of a WHOLE lot of practice. That's another great point made in this thread; whitetails on the back 40 make accomplished handgun hunters. Good luck to everyone this fall!

Here is my first handgun kill. TC Encore 44 mag shooting a Hornady 240 grain XTP over 23.5 grains of H-110. Shot was 18 yards as he followed a hot doe. Ran about 35 yards and piled up. 158 inches before deductions.

Matthew, you're welcome my friend, it just seemed like a good thread topic to do. With all of the "gun" deer seasons coming up, this is a good way to get excited about this year's seasons. I've killed a bunch of deer with my handguns, but not nearly as many as most. When my wife and I first were married, the only reason we had more to eat than peanut butter and Oodles and Noodles was because of my need and ability to kill deer. I'm not ashamed of it, quit differently, I'm very proud to have been able to bring home the food for the table. BTW, this year we celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary

Great thread,,
James, tell a little about the mule deer hunt please. Newt, I`am flattered that you would ask about my mule deer hunt.. I was very lucky to have taken this deer as an extreme drought had hit the state... When the time came for the shot, late in the day, this guy was 100 yds away... My FA`s model 83 in 41 mag had a Taffin handload that pushed a 210 gr. A-frame at 1647fps and there were does blocking the shot... While waiting I got complacent and of all things I shot OVER the deer... He ran straight to my right and the guide stopped him with a call at a 100 or so yds and this time I double lunged him with an A-frame that had a none stop ticket to China... he lay about 50 yds from where he was shot... Let me add that our Greg Richter has handgunned some tremendous mule deer...Thank you again for your interest........
