Dur, your FA 357 magnum will run step for step with my Ruger 357 Maximum, hard to believe but it's true. Nice deer buddy! This is my best 357 Maximum Muley. Took him with iron sights somewhere short of 100 yds just before sundown with a 180 gr. cast bullet, he was down in 3-4 seconds. This is one of about 6 with the 357 Maximum. Dick YES sir..... Taking a high top mulie with a 357 Max from the original handgun it was made for is sorta like shooting a peg leg pirate with a flintlock pistol......

Wow so a 357 will kill a deer! 😀 Speaking of 357 and whitetail... That Python loaded with Winchester 158 gr. JHP ammunition took some of those same whitetail deer over 30 years ago.. Nothing new....

Great buck Ernie but what's that white stuff in the background?
Never seen anything like that where I hunt.

I've always thought the 357 magnum was an excellent caliber for the tree stand hunter that could pick his shot & make it with great accuracy. Also I think any of the proven jacketed SP's or HP's are the best way to go in these situations. No fly's on the 357 when used properly. Now the Python James is using might be a little inferior, I would probably send that thing out here to Idaho where it would be put to better use!!! Made my longest ever revolver kill on deer with an 6 3/8's S&W using a Sierra 140 gr. jacketed hollow cavity.

Thank you Randy! She's my hunting partner, camera woman, and see can spot a deer moving in the pine thickets of Eastern NC like no one else. Next month makes 20 years of marriage. She's a tough little pistol.

......But...there are still some heavy hitters missing. KRAL, DarrellH, I am looking for your posts. Matt, Been out of pocket for a while, just now catching up on the forum.....I don't know about being a heavy hitter, but here's a few pics. Taken with OM Super Blackhawk and a Dick Thompson cast hollow point. T/C Encore 270W and 130gr SST at 268 yards. GP 100 and 180gr partition. FA 44mag and 240xtp. T/C Contender 209x50 muzzleloader. FA 44mag and 240xtp. FA 353 casull and 180gr partition.

I've had all 3 of those rounds in Bullberry single shots & they are superb! Used 2 of them in Africa with great success along with my Freedom Arms 475. Keep meaning to ask, how many deer can you take in Texas now, it used to be 5 when I was stationed there. Here's a few of my Montana white tails, along with one calf elk taken with one of my Bisley 45's & also a muley buck taken along time ago with an XP100 in 250 Savage. Dick

I cull for a few ranches. So, the number I can take is only limited by the number of Managed Land Deer Tags (MLD) the rancher possesses.
Otherwise, I have 5 Tags of my own.
And honestly, I mostly use a rifle to cull. It's faster and more effecient when I'm "working". But

The last two Mule Deer were shot relatively close to each other. For a mule deer the first ones eye guards are taller than a lot mule deer too.

I have a number of whitetail and mule deer pics that I can't find. While looking, I found this good looking feller. Steve and I have had a lot of fun in the hills. On this day he decided to use my 7mm Dakota. Just over 600 yards

It is interesting to see that the single shot seems to be the preferred handgun for whitetail.
