45Man, 5" S&W Model 27. That was an excellent article with a lot of good thought put into it. The closest I could get was a 4" Mod. 28. But, it does wear a set of Bearhug Grips.
JDK "hit the nail on the head" in that the five inch S&W model 27 was Skeet`s one gun choice... At the end of his Jan. 1977 "Hipshots" column he states.. " But my lost youth and long experience hold heavy influence. The one I`m going to take up permanent housekeeping with will be the one I`ve used the most- my five inch Smith & Wesson model 27"...... PS- JDK, your 4" model 28 is right there...especially with Bear Hug grips

Skeeter was a huge influence in my interest in handguns. He was the reason my first gun rag subscription was to Shooting Times. I always read his column and articles first.
It took me several years to get them, but I had to have a Colt SAA, and 5" M27, and a 7.5" Flat Top 44.
It would be hard to pick my favorite Skeeter articles...

How did you get that James? Did you know Jurras personally? spinsail, No... I did not know Lee Jurras personally but wish I did... I was lucky to have contacted him just before his illness set in and sent him my copy of his book with a return envelope... When on the following Christmas my card to him was returned, I knew he took a turn for the worse... His book with the photos of the African game he handgunned were the primer I needed to make an African hunt happen....

If you haven't read them Hell I was There and Sixguns by Elmer Keith are very good also. THESE ARE ABSOLUTE MUST READS! A KEEP A COPY OF EACH AT THE HIGHPOINT FOR GUESTS TO LOOK AT.

Skeeter's articles and books are always good reading.His articles were always read first each month. His son Bart ain't no slouch either,not Skeeter but good reading.

Sorry 45MAN. My question was to James for the business card he has of Skeeters...
My favorite is my model 65. Old cop revolver semi retired.
May not be a 27 but it is still a .357.....

Heading that way my friend and thank you.....
Be there spring / early summer. Would be heading that way now but I hate traveling the ALCAN in winter....Matter of fact I hate traveling the ALCAN any time of the year....
