With all the talk of Encores lately, I thought I'd ask you all what chamberings you'd like to have in an Encore barrel if money/time weren't an issue. Here's a few of mine:

-460 S&W, 15" length, full bull, with a good brake.
-45/410 shotshell barrel, 15" length.
-45 Colt, 10 to 12" length, heavy taper or full bull, threaded for a 45 caliber suppressor to make a suppressed, subsonic cast bullet firing hunting handgun.
-257 Roberts, 15" length, heavy taper.
-50 caliber something or other, not sure on the exact caliber.

If you add rifle length barrels, I'd also build:
-460 S&W, same as above except 24" length
-221 Fireball, 24" length, full bull, blued

So, what barrels would you guys make or buy?

My choices are rather boring ...

- a 15? 30/30 Full Bull with an integral brake
- a 10? 357 Mag Full Bull

Both in stainless.

So boring ... lol

I would think about picking up a contender frame for some of those. I find the vent rib 45/410 to be lacking in the sight department, especially after loosing the little plastic insert they used for the rear site. 45 colt I'd fun in contender. Even the light octagon barrels are ok with +p loads. Now that I have opened it up to contenders too

I was just looking at a fast twist 22lr contender barrel. I've got some subsonic heavy 22lr around.
I got a 27 inch MGM 25-06 barrel and have been having fun launching 75 gn vmax at 3840 fps at pdogs and such. (Switching between that and my 700 really drives home the short coming of the break open design in a target rich environment). It would be fun to get a flat shooting encore pistol barrel, but I'm not sure what that would be yet. Might end up being 25-06, but they burn so much powder I might look for something more efficient. In reality I'm well past the point of being able to shoot what I have with any regularity and find it difficult to consider much more.

About the only thing I would really like is for some of my Encore barrels to be shorter. I would prefer my 12 inch 44 mag and 454 Casull barrels to be 9-10 inches in length. Then again I would like to have a 22 Hornet barrel. I would prefer that in Contender. Other than that I'm pretty content with what I have.

Hey Chance
I?ve had a SSK 15 inch 257 AI barrel for a few years now. I set mine up for a dual role (deer and coyote). Taken a few deer with it still looking for that coyote.
For your 50 caliber take a look at the 50 B&M Alaskan, I have a SSK 14 inch with fish gill brake that is a hoot to shoot and hunt with.
As for the make question, Indiana?s deer rifle regulations over the past few years have went under various iterations. For the most part rifles were allowed if the case did not exceed 1.8 inches with a bullet no smaller than .357. In late 2012 and early 2013 I designed my first named wildcat the 458 Nomad. It is nothing more that a 458 Win Mag shortened to 1.8 inches which is the same length as the 460 S&W. It took a year to make this a reality firing the first test shot in October 2014. SSK did the 24-inch Encore barrel with 1-14 twist and brake. Used it for the 2014 opener and can attest to it being a deer hammer. While I like my rifles I use my handguns / canons 95% of the time.
What?s next ? I am a huge fan of the 358 caliber the 358 Alaskan has always been on my bucket list.. Maybe someday.

I'd love a 445 Super Mag barrel, and the more that I listen to Buck_358 that 50 B&M Alaskan sounds pretty tempting..both in an Encore...of course I'd love to have SSK make a barrel in 475/350 Mag, but when I asked them about making one, they told me I'd have to get a custom reamer on my own. Maybe someone with some pull with SSK can help me out

I would love to find a 15 inch 6.5x55 Swede barrel or 6.5 Creedmore barrel [prefer the Swede] for my encore.I have a 15 in. 30-06 barrel now I want to get braked . Hands can't take the pounding anymore.
I have a new blued 24 inch 22-250 barrel for trading stock.

Contender wise : I want to get a 15" 30-30 in SS
and I would not mind having a 260 cal Both with brakes...
I could kick myself over and over for not getting an Encore in the 28gauge when I had a chance.

I may have to add a .375JDJ at some point to my contender and have always thought I'd like a 22 magnum.

Sometime I would like a 22 lr with a 14 inch barrel and a 12 inch 357 mag.
