I couldn't resist pulling the trigger only this little guy the other day. He was broadside only about 40 yards out. This is first blood for my Ruger Blackhawk Bisley Hunter. Handgun hunting is addictive. [img] [/img]

Spent a few hours out in the timber today with a Ruger Super Redhawk in 10MM Auto but didn't see anything. That's ok with me though, just being out there does it for me. It's my "happy" place. [img] [/img]

Nicely done. As a friend was fond of saying, "Meat's meat and a man's got to eat"

Nice gun IA.. What scope do you have on your Bisley Hunter?
Nice shot and deer.. Picked up a SBH Hunter recently in 41Mag.
Scoped mine with a Bushnell Trophy 2-6.. Still no meat tho...
Hopefully by New Years..
Merry Christmas

What load did you use on that first deer, looks like you hit him with a giant can opener! Congratulations, you made a fine shot.

Nice pics and congrats on the deer. You're right, handgun hunting is definitely addicting.
The meat won't fry if the lead don't fly.

Congrats, I killed my first deer with a 10 1/2 inch SBH. He was a small four point and the shot was about 35 yards with open sights. That set me on fire. I had been a bow hunter since about 1968 or 69 and found handgun hunting to be more addictive for me than bow hunting.
A few years later I sold that handgun when my daughter was getting married and we needed money. I wish I had kelp it.
Good luck and good job.

Congrats, The SBHH is an awesome hunting package. I have similar set up with a Simmons 2-6(or7)x32. I finally got my chance the other afternoon but did something wrong in my haste and poor support and missed. Found an impressive hole in the ground/leaves. I enjoy carrying the SBHH more than the TC Encore/Contenders but I have yet to bloody it. Congrats again.
First Handgun Deer: ~1982 8" S&W .38Spl SW 7.5" 686-7 with Matchdot II SBHH .45LC 7.5" Contender G2 .35-30/30 (Bellm), .22LR, .22 Hornet, 25-35 Glock 40 10mm; G21 Poly80 w/ 9 inch barrel (in work)

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Nice shot! Perfect for the table. Also curious on the load. I'm using factory ammo right now, Hornady Leverevolution 225gr FTX. I'm getting some once fired brass stockpiled and will be loading my own soon.

You may already be aware of this, but I'm pretty sure that the brass from Hornady FTX bullet loads are trimmed to a shorter length than standard 44 magnum loads. This may only be a problem if you planning on shooting a different bullet.

Good shot with a nice set-up. I shot a 7 point two seasons ago with a Ruger Super Redhawk .44 and the satisfaction I got from using a handgun took me off rifles for good.

Huge congrats! I love my Bisley hunters.
