Anyone have any good suggestions for replacement sights for a Ruger Blackhawk? Ruger has some fiber optic sights listed on their website that look nice, but I think they only fit the Super Blackhawk.

Pretty much only three aftermarket options available for the year as far as o know, Bowen?s Target sight, the Bowen Rough Country, and the LPA tear sight. LPA?s are inexpensive and available. Not sure about the availability of the Bowen offerings at this moment.

FOR THE SINGLE SIX TYPE REVOLVERS WITH THE SCREWED ON FRONT SIGHT, FERMIN GARZA ("2 DOGS" ON ANOTHER SITE) MAKES A GREAT REPLACEMENT FRONT SIGHT, I HAVE 'EM ON 2 SINGLE SIX 22MAG/22LR's, A SINGLE SIX 32 H&R MAG AND A SINGLE SEVEN 327 MAG, GREAT SIGHTS.
THE LPA REAR SIGHT FOR THE BFR IS AVAILABLE FROM KAHR ARMS. IT WILL FIT ON A RUGER BUT THE 2 SPRINGS DO NOT MATCH UP WITH THE RUGER SPRING HOLES AND SOMETIMES THERE IS A LITTLE SIDE PLAY AS THE SIGHT MAY NOT BE A TIGHT FIT IN THE TOP STRAP. I HAVE THEM ON SEVERAL FULL SIZE RUGER BISLEYS AND THEY ARE A BIG IMPROVEMENT OVER A RUGER REAR SIGHT. THEY MAY BE OUT OF PROPORTION ON A SINGLE SIX SIZE FRAME.

2 OTHER POSSIBLE ISSUES WITH THE BFR LPA REAR SIGHTS: 1) THEY MAY BE TOO HIGH EVEN WHEN SCREWED ALL THE WAY DOWN (I HAD TO FILE THE RS BLADE DOWN TO GET IT TO WORK ON 1 REVOLVER), AND 2) THE ELEVATION SCREW MAY PORTRUDE ENUFF THRU THE FRAME TO TIE UP THE CYLINDER, NECESSITATING FILING DOWN THE SCREW.
THE BOWEN REAR SIGHTS, WHEN AVAILABLE, ARE EXCELENT.

Well, I did a little more research and figured out that the Blackhawk in question has a fixed front sight, not one of the pinned ones that's more easily removed. So, I guess we can disregard this question.

FRONT SIGHT IS ONLY 1/2 OF THE SIGHTS. A GOOD GUNSMITH OR DIY'er CAN MILL A SLOT IN, AND DRILL A HOLE IN, THE FS BASE FOR A PIN IN FS.

So, I guess we can disregard this question. Why? Just get a gunsmith involved. This is something that should be really easy for a smith to handle and inexpensive as well.

The thing is, the revolvers in question are my late granddads, and I just don?t know how to feel about doing major alterations. That?s why I put a no drill Weigand on the 41.

Bowen Classic Arms Rear Adjustable Target sight is what I use on my two Smith and Wesson X-frame revolvers. A gunsmith is like a doctor. Sometimes necessary for issues that come up. I would recommend you find a good gunsmith to speak to about your goals first. Then see what develops.

Weigand also makes a number of no drill, no tap bases, but I never mentioned them as he was asking for an aftermarket replacement sight option. However, this would solve the desire not to modify anything.
