Not sure this is exactly the right spot, but here goes...

I was on our local library search sight looking for handgun hunting books and it got me to wondering what books all you long time, hard core handgun hunters have added to your personal libraries over the years?

Guess I should add that I have Hell I Was There by Keith (if you count that as handgun) and Hunting Revolvers by Prasac. The local libraries have Sixguns and Skeeter Skelton's book Good Friends, Good Guns and Good Whiskey, got that one on the way.

Sixguns and Hell, I Was There by Elmer. Not a hunting book, but I also have No Second Place Winner by Bill Jordan. Again, not a handgun hunting book, but two editions of Gun Notes, by Elmer. You might be able to tell that Elmer Keith was my boyhood hero and it has lasted a lifetime. I will always regret that I didn?t get over to Idaho on my several trips to the West before his guns were all auctioned. Good memories, thanks for reminding me, and welcome to the forum.

Hunting for Handgunners by Larry Kelly and JD Jones, Handgun Hunting by Mark Hampton, The Ultimate Guide to Handgun Hunting: Tips and Tactics for Hunting Small and Big Game by Claire Rees, Pioneering Handgun Hunting by Al Goerg, Gun Digest Book of Hunting Revolvers by Max Prasac, Handgun Hunting by George Nonte and Lee Jurras, Successful Handgun Hunting by Phil Johnston, Hunting Handguns and Their Cartridges by Gary Reeder. I think that's it for what's in my library.

Handguns Annuals from 95 - 2000. Taffins books, Hunting for Handgunners, Reeders books, Wildcat Cartridges, Cartridges of the World, Guns Illustrated 95 - 97, Big Bore Cartridges and Rifles, Hampton's books, a million magazines and articles, and last but not least The Sixgunners. There are many more, but these are what first comes to mind.

At one time I had a large collection. Been selling some off to allow others to enjoy them.

Inside it says Copyright 1999 by Ron Sabo. It was published by VDK Publishing.

I got this copy from Ron Sabo, signed inside in 2004.
There are a few still floating around on book sites or in book stores. I found one in Oklahoma City a few years back at a book store. A little wear but still good. Traded it to a buddy for a Traditional Archer book I had been looking for.

Glad to see this thread as I can see the books I'm missing.

I tried to get the Ron Sabo book a few years back but couldn't find a copy. Forgot about it until now. Looking at what others have I see a few titles I didn't even know existed, like those by Goerg, Rees and Johnston. I'll be looking for some of those to fill the library.

Not sure if it's appropriate here but I wouldn't mind seeing reviews from the owners on some of these books.

As I'm looking, does anyone know where to purchase a copy of Mark Hampton's Handguns in Wild Places?

The usual venues are turning up nothing.

Thanks.

Just send $23 to Mark Hampton, P.O. Box 108, Summersville, MO 65571 -- and I'll get a book headed your way.

Thank you for your interest!

Mark

Been awhile since I've been here. I've a few of those books too. Got Mark's book Addicted to Altitude, and a few others. Got a group buy organized a long time ago for Ron Sabo's book, and it worked out well--through his daughter I think it was. The best single long-range shooting article I ever read though has to be Ernie Bishop's article on his 7mm Dakota years back in Dakota Magazine.

I'm sure you do James! I'm always impressed with the vintage memorabilia and brochures you post.
