I agree, looks like a lot of fun! I'm just not sure it's the $3700 asking price worth of fun though.

Seems to be a little excessive in power. I have 2 SSK .375/.284 XPs and they are very reasonable in recoil with plenty of power (1 shot 5000# hippo). I shot JDs .458X2 XP years ago. It was not really friendly to my hands, but then again not is my .45-70 SSK Contender with 500/600 gr. bullets. I guess power and punishment is in the eye of the (be)holder!

Nobody says you can?t load it with a case full of Trail Boss. My JDJ barrel in .50-70 firing 700-grain bullets is a lot more pleasant with Trail Boss than with H322.
BTW back to the OP?s question: I didn?t order it.
.
Based on total trigger pull weight, my trigger finger has lifted well over 200 tons....

Not positive but that may have been one of J.D.'s personal guns. I heard that after the sale of S.S.K. he was selling off some of his personal stuff.

I spoke with the man who I purchased this pistol from recently. He said that this pistol ,which he had J.D Jones build for him, will chamber and fire a full length. 375 H&H magnum round although it will not extract the full length case 72.5mm without removing the bolt. The trimmed down 69.5mm length cases will extract properly. J.D. said that he can and would put a relief cut on the receiver to allow for extraction of full length cases if someone so desired. A question arose about the unique chambering of this firearm. This is the answer. Best Regards. From the Gunbroker page. Here's the link if anyone's interested: Remington JD Jones SSK Customized .375 H&H Pistol

I don't consider myself recoil sensitive but that might be a little more boom than I want to try and hang on to without a shoulder stock attached.
