We just had our first Cove City Invitational Hunting Handgun Shoot-off...The prize was a blue 7 1/2" Redhawk in 44 and we collected $50 each for transfer and shipping... The guns used were a 260 Rem XP-100 single shot a Springfield 10mm semi auto and a 460 S&W XVR revolver with all shooting factory ammo. Targets were at 115 yards, being a 10"x 12" steel plate and a 3"round steel plate. Since there were only three shooters it took a small part of the afternoon. Craig did well with the iron sight 10mm and I was decent with all three but David swept the stage with five straight hits on the 3" plate and took the prize... Congratulations Franchise... PS- Just for the record I supplied the Redhawk and it was NOT donated by Ruger.....

It's not the gun, but the man behind it.

Now that looks like fun. Reminds me of the old cardboard safari we used to do.

I was a handgun hunter, when handgun wasn't cool.....

I had a great time! I love getting together with fellow handgun hunters and shooting. James' 260 Rem is an amazingly accurate handgun as you'd expect, but the surprise was the 460 S&W...115 yards and 3" plates, A Piece Of Cake....300 gr and 275 gr bullets all shot to the same point of impact. My favorite part of course was watching my wife bust steel with the 460 S&W...that's right..5'2 and 110 pounds of No Fear.

I don`t know which was more severe... the XP in 260 or the S&W 460 revolver... I put an empty ammo box near the 460 and muzzle brake moved it a foot over... When I chronographed the 460 the blast took the faceplate off the Chrony...

It takes 43 muscles to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger squeeze.

Jimmy, the only thing missing was a master chef from NY wielding a 357 Max while smoking a cigar.

Rocky, we'll have to do something similar to this at Salt Creek in April.
